Mabel "Madea" R. Simmons is a fictional character created by writer/director Tyler Perry. She's based on Perry's mother and aunt and is an aggressive, grey haired, bespectacled matriarch. Madea argue with anyone at any time. Her tag line? "Purnch you in the face!"
