Behold the New Freddy Kruger!
After seeing remakes for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th, we should have all known a reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street was on the way.
Wes Craven's original film spawned a slew of sequels over several decades. Everybody loves good ol' teen-slashing, teeth-gnashing, quip-quoting Freddy. He's a genuine horror icon. So why not bring him back to the big screen for a new generation to latch onto, and for the older generation to enjoy again?
Well, for one, the original actor who breathed life into Freddy, Robert Englund, is now a little too old for another outing. Okay, so let's replace him!
Not so fast... Unlike Jason and Leatherface, we know what Freddy is supposed to look and sound like. So who could really play Freddy these days?
Rorschach, that's who.
Yep, that's right, Platinum Dunes has cast Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kruger! Check out the image below to get a first, albeit shadowy glimpse at the new Freddy!
