New Moon Breaks Midnight Record!

If the frenzy at the New Moon premiere was any indication, we should have had money riding on this.

New Moon has surpassed the box office records of both Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and The Dark Knight for opening night shows, raking in an intimidating $26.27 million from 3,514 theaters last night!

Stay tuned to see if New Moon can take The Dark Knight's title for $67.1 million single-day record!

Directed by Chris Weitz, the sequel stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Rachelle Lefevre, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning.

Three Posters for The Cabin in the Woods!

United Artists has released three posters for the upcoming horror film The Cabin in the Woods. Written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, and directed by Goddard, the film is a tongue-in-cheek throwback to the classic "cabin in the woods" horror theme.

The three posters, while identical in their overall design, feature three different taglines aimed at would-be teen campers, offering them hilariously dubious advice on what to do in each given horror scenario.

It'll be a little while before we get to see just what Whedon and Goddard have in store, as The Cabin in the Woods won't hit theaters until January 14, 2011. While the posters display a February 2010 release date, it's being reported that MGM has delayed releasing the film in order to convert it to 3-D.

First Iron Man 3 Rumor!

Iron Man 2 is still a solid 6 months away, and already rumors are swirling about the third film.

Recently, Faran Tahir, who played Raza, the leader of the Ten Rings Terrorist organisation that imprisoned Tony Stark at the beginning of the first film, has been speaking about his character possibly becoming the mustached supergenius Mandarin.

Faran Tahir as Raza in Iron Man

"At some point, they want to introduce Mandarin into the storyline and my character, like Mandarin, was the leader of the Ten Rings," he told Moviefone. "We're leaving it open because, partly, it makes good business sense for us to leave a little bit of uncertainty for people to speculate on."

"He [Favreau] has known for a long time where he wants to take it and I don't want to speak for him, but my feeling is that the second movie didn't want to just follow a singular storyline. They wanted to expand the characters to show that it's not a linear saga like Lord of the Rings. There's a linkage somewhere in there, but the big idea is to do at least one more Iron Man movie and then go into The Avengers."

Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7, 2010.

New Wolfman Poster!

Maybe it's because they keep changing the release date, but Universal has just released a new poster for the Benicio Del Toro remake of The Wolfman.

Let's hope that the latest release date of February 10, 2010 sticks this time, although all bets are off seeing as Universal assigned two new editors to recut The Wolfman.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson at the New Moon Premiere!

New Moon, the sequel to the popular teen fantasy drama Twilight, had its premiere Monday night in Westwood, CA. The Hollywood Gossip got some candid shots of stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who did not walk the red carpet together, despite (or because of) persistent rumors of a real-life romance budding between the two.

The two stars had plenty to focus on alone, with the thousands of screaming fans that showed up at the premiere, many of them camping out as early as the previous Thursday to secure a front-row seat.

"You can't really prepare for something like this," said Robert Pattinson. "I don't know how the Beatles felt, but this is kind of..." Screaming fans interrupted Pattinson's train of thought.

"I think very few human beings can ever get this same feeling," he concluded.

New Moon opens in theaters everywhere tomorrow, starting with advanced screenings beginning at midnight tonight.

Wolfman Recut!

Nothing is worse than having to do damage control, but that's exactly what Universal Studios is doing to the upcoming Benicio Del Toro vehicle The Wolfman.

The project has already had a rough time, having to change directors mid-production, causing the release date to be pushed back several times. Joe Johnston finally settled into the director's chair, but the problems have seemed to follow him.

Benico is the Wolfman!

Now, it seems the film is getting a major overhaul at the studio's request. To ensure that the job is done right this time, Universal has brought in not one, but two legendary editors to help polish the turd The Wolfman seems to have become.

Mark Goldblatt and Walter Murch are currently tasked with the job of cleaning up the mess that Batman & Robin editor Dennis Virkler has left. Goldblatt's pedigree comes from films like Terminator and Terminator 2, while Murch is Oscar-nominated for films like Apocalypse Now and The Conversation.

Still, even with this new heavy artillery, doubt is still in the air as to whether The Wolfman will howl on the current scheduled release date of 2/10/2010.

Images from The Blind Side

New Moon isn't the only movie opening this week. If you're not into vampires and werewolves and emo teens, you might want to check out The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw.

In the blind side, the well-to-do family the Tuohys take in the transient, under-educated Michael Oher and lead him to high school football greatness.

Nicolas Cage on Drugs!

Just watch this:

*Warning: Clip is NSFW*

To quell all your fears, no Cage isn't really smoking crack. Okay, he might be, but it's for a good reason.

Cage plays Detective Terrence McDonagh in Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant:Port of Call New Orleans. McDonagh is a high-functioning drug addict and compulsive gambler who is investigating the slaughter of five Senegalese immigrants in post-Katrina New Orleans.

As we saw in the age-restricted Bad Lieutenant clip, Cage's character is sleep-deprived and cracked-out. So it's no surprise that the film's marketing team would play that up in this viral video.

The video was linked to the website luckycrackpipe.com, which you must see to believe. Trust me.

Bad Lieutenant hits theaters this Friday.

French Avatar Poster Revealed!

Fox France has just released the final French theatrical poster for James Cameron's Avatar. The French are lucky, as 3-D sci-fi adventure opens two days earlier than it does here in the United States.

As you can see, this poster is a little more captivating than the current US Avatar poster, but the cheesy font remains. Be sure to check out the other posters and images from the film in our Avatar photo gallery!

Anne Hathaway Approached for Spider-Man 4?

Deadline Hollywood has reported that Anne Hathaway is being considered for a role in Spider-Man 4.

Anne Hathaway Picture

"While Sony Pictures insists no decisions have been made, sources tell me that the producers have approached Anne Hathaway to star in the film. Maybe you experts have an idea what she'll play? All I know is that she's wanted for a starring role, and she won't replace Kirsten Dunst who's also cast in the Spidey fourquel."

This news is coming right on the heels of rumors that Julia Stiles is the top pick for Black Cat, after rumors that Rachel McAdams was being considered for the part were proven false. Could Hathaway be a Black Cat pick too?

Spider-Man 4 isn't set to swing into theaters until May 6, 2011, so there's plenty of time for Raimi to make a choice.
