New Writer for Karate Kid Reboot

Reboots are all the rage these days, so it's no wonder Columbia is taking its reboot of The Karate Kid seriously.  Previously being written by Chris Murphy, the job has been handed over to Steven Conrad.

Conrad, who wrote the 2006 The Persuit of Happyness, has connections to two of the producers, James Lessiter and Will Smith via Happyness.  Hopefully this switch up will be good for the film which stars production next month.

The new Karate stars Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan, and Taraji P. Henson.  We can't wait to see the Crane Kick back in action.

If you still ever want to catch the original Karate Kid all grown up, be sure and catch Ralph Macchio in his recurring role as Archie on Ugly Betty.

Shia LeBouf Confirms Indiana Jones 5

Shia LeBouf, during an interview with the BBC to promote the new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, confirmed that a follow-up to Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystall Skull is in the works.

Previously confirmed by George Lucas, Shia said that, "Steven [Spielberg] just said that he cracked the story on it before I left and I think they're gearing that up" during the interview.

In the past, when asked the creator of the franchise had said he was waiting to come up with a story for the potential follow-up.  Sounds like everything is in place now.

Iron Man 2 First Look: Mickey Rourke as Whiplash

Jon Favreau's Iron Man 2 may not appear in theaters until May 7, 2010, but that doesn't stop Paramount Pictures from teasing us with a first look of Mickey Rourke as the villain, Whiplash.

Whiplash's alter ego, Ivan Vanko, is a Russian who, "has constructed his own version of a suit," according to Favreau.  He continues, "The technologies are definitely related, and that's part of the core theme of the film."

The difference is that Whiplash's suit will have a pair of whips powered by the suit's glowing chest piece.  And of course a much less attractive man underneath it.

The Proposal Movie Trailer

In what appears to be one of the best potential romantic comedy this summer, The Proposal hits theaters this weekend on June 19th.

The set-up sounds fairly cheesy, with Sandra Bullock starring as an editor-in-chief of a publishing company that forces her assistant (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to avoid being deported to Canada.

Of course, the two end up falling in love during the course of their fake engagement.  What makes this work is definitely the chemistry between these two beloved actors.

Just watch the trailer below and we'll see you in the theaters on Friday:

The Hangover Sequel: Confirmed!

It's the surprise hit of the summer.

And director Todd Phillips says audiences should prepare to get hungover again: A sequel to The Hangover has been confirmed.

“We were thinking of sequel ideas when we were shooting, which sounds cocky, but we were doing it more because it was just fun to talk about ideas while hanging out on the set,” Phillips told MTV. “Two weeks ago I was saying, ‘let’s see how it works out.’ Now that the movie has really connected, it’s something we’re doing for sure.”
