Gore Verbinski: Out of Pirates of the Caribbean 4

Might Gore Verbinski be as troubled by the prospect of a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film as we are?

The director, who helmed all three films in Disney's blockbuster trilogy, will not return for the upcoming follow-up.

According to Variety, producer Jerry Bruckheimer had been hoping the filmmaker would return for one more outing, especially once Johnny Depp signed up to reprise the role of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Alas, it was not meant to be, as Verbinski will instead focus on the movie Bioshock.

"I had a fantastic time bringing Pirates to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team," the director said. "I'm looking forward to all of us crossing paths again the future."

The next Pirates of the Caribbean movie will begin filming in 2010.

Garry Shandling Joins Cast of Iron Man 2

Garry Shandling has joined the cast of Iron Man 2.

The folks at IESB were on set and confirmed that the comedian has landed a role in the sequel. He looks to be a "reporter or Senator," according to sources.

The site also states that Iron Man 2 picks up almost immediately after the original ends, as the movie begins during the final scene of Iron Man, following Tony Stark's announcement that he is, indeed, the superhero.

Will Aidan Appear in the Sex and the City Sequel?

With confirmation of a sequel to last summer's Sex and the City movie, rumors are swirling about possible storylines.

For example, might Aidan make an appearance?

John Corbett, who stars on Showtime's The United States of Tara, told Access Hollywood he'd be up for a cameo: "If something came my way, I'd jump on it."

Of course, considering his character was last seen walking around with another woman's baby, Corbett suspects that "Aidan's come and gone... I think it's really more about the girls and Carrie and Big now, so I don't think there's a place for him in there."

Observe and Report Review

Previews for Observe and Report do not do this movie justice.

While the comparisons to Paul Blart: Mall Cop are obvious - this is another comedy about a mall security officer, after all - trust us: this film is far from family fare.

For starters, Observe and Reports is an action-packed comedy. It actually builds to an exciting ending, like a real suspense thriller. Sort of.

Iron Man 2: Twice the Action!

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Robert Downey Jr. has good news for fans of Iron Man:

The sequel will be chock full of character development and action!

"The film is almost entirely about character, and yet we still have twice as much action as we did last time, so it's going to be nuts," the actor said. "Essentially Iron Man 2 is about looking behind the armor, or the armature, of a superhero. It's one thing to say you're Iron Man, it's another thing to be fully ready to do that."

Robert Downey Jr. is gearing up to reprise the role of Tony Stark.

As for co-star Scarlett Johansson, who portrays the femme fatale Black Widow in the sequel, Downey said:

"We've been rehearsing and she's in insane shape. She's getting lean and mean."

Michael Bay Speaks on Changes to Transformers Sequel

During a recent panel discussion at ShoWest, director Michael Bay spoke on the differences between Transformers and the upcoming sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

"I'm very confident in the movie; the movie is way different [from the first film]. It's epic, it goes around the world, and it's the first film to shoot on the pyramids in like 40 years," he said.

Jackie Earle Haley: Confirmed for A Nightmare on Elm Street Remake

Jackie Earle Haley will officially don Freddy Krueger's signature striped sweater and long fingernails in the upcoming remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Production is expected to start rolling May 5 in Chicago.

Haley, who most recently starred as Rorschach in Watchmen, made his big comeback with 2006's Little Children. The performance earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

"Looking at his performance in Watchmen, here's a guy playing a character under a mask yet you feel tremendous empathy for him," A Nightmare on Elm Street director Samuel Bayer said. "And in Nightmare, he is going to be under prosthetic makeup. You have to feel something for the character. The greatest villains are multidimensional and I think he will bring that to the character."
