Stephen Sommers Speaks on G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Entertainment Weekly chatted with Stephen Sommers this week.

The G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra spoke on what inspired the movie. The inspiration's name? Bond. Jame Bond.

"I always loved the old Bonds. It's funny now how Bond wants to be Bourne. I loved Quantum of Solace, but it was like, man, this is a completely different movie to the Bonds I grew up with," Sommers said.

"In a very contemporary way, G.I. Joe is inspired by the memory of the kind of movies I saw when I was younger. I remember being in the theater for Thunderball and the big underwater battle at the end of that movie just blew my socks off. In G.I. Joe, there's an underwater battle under the polar icecap that's Thunderball times 10!"

Evan Handler Speaks on Sex and the City Sequel

All four leading ladies have signed on for the Sex and the City movie sequel.

But what about the men?

Evan Handler, who portrays Charlotte's husband Harry Goldenblatt, is worried that his character will never see the light of day in the upcoming follow-up.

"They could kill me off before the movie even starts," the actor said to E! Online, adding that he is yet to receive word about his status. "It's always possible that Harry has had a massive coronary and Charlotte is set free."

Would Handler want to appear in the sequel if asked?

"I'd love to. It was a blast," he said. "Being involved with something that got so much attention and so much adoration was great. Whatever needs to be worked out is so far out of my hands, I hope they work it out. I hope they want me to be in it, and I hope schedule-wise I can."

Michael Cera Addresses Arrested Development Movie Rumors

When it comes to an upcoming movie based on the former Fox sitcom Arrested Development, two things are known:

  1. It's happening;
  2. Michael Cera is the only cast member to not commit to the film.

When approached by MTV about the project, Cera played down confirmation of the movie.

"There's no script or anything, so the movie, I think, is more hypothetical than people think," the actor said.

Asked if he was "holding out" on the reprisal of his TV role for the big screen version, the Juno star replied:

"I'd possibly play, I'd possibly put the script in my shredder. I may buy a shredder. People have asked me about it more than I've heard about it [in an official capacity] but I'd be very interested to see what the story is with it."

Man, when did George Michael Bluth become such a diva?!?

Kristen Stewart is on Team Taylor Lautner

After a few weeks of controversy, Taylor Lautner has been confirmed as returning to the role of Jacob Black for the upcoming Twilight sequel, New Moon.

And co-star Kristen Stewart couldn't be happier about it.

"I'm so glad they didn't have to find somebody else; we already had him!" the actress told MTV News. "I didn't understand all the deliberation on [whether to bring him back]. But now that it's set, we can all rest."

As for the 26 pounds of muscle Lautner has packed on to play a more bulked up version of Jacob, Stewart likes what she has seen so far:

"He's really buff! He definitely is. It took him a lot of time."

The portrayer of Bella also had praise for Chris Weitz, who is taking over direction of the franchise from Catherine Hardwicke.

"Chris is — on top of him being a really sweet guy — he is entirely devoted," Stewart said. "And he's very clearly not doing the movie just because it's the next big thing. He really likes it a lot."
