Catherine Hardwicke is out as director of New Moon. Chris Weitz is in.
And Twilight author Stephenie Meyer wants to assure fans that the latter will be a perfect fit for the franchise.
"I've had the chance to talk to Chris, and I can tell you that he is excited by the story and eager to keep the movie as close to the book as possible," Meyer recently wrote to fans of the series. "He is also very aware of you, the fans, and wants to keep you all extremely happy."
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will return for New Moon. That's for certain, at least.
But will fans be happy about possible cast changes in New Moon?
The movie's studio won't commit to Taylor Lautner's return as Jacob, a role that is featured prominently in the follow-up. Michael Copon, best known for his role in Scorpion King 2, is reportedly the leading contender for the part.

weLL, it wouLd cause a fit for those peopLe who Loves Lautner as jacob bLack.. but i guess if the changing of the cast shouLd be necessary, since jacob has to grow, a lot times more than the jacob in twilight, they can try to find a good replacement for him.. i think people should just understand that recasting is for the good of the movie.. after all, this is showbiz.. right? i dont think this would be the only movie for Lautner.. they'LL juz have to wait for another movie where he'LL be into..
another thing, instead of that Copon guy... can they juz try to consider "Steven Strait", the Lead actor in the movie "the Covenant". i think he's reaLLy cooL and he couLd portray jacob bLack a Lot better.. and he's hot and handsome too..

they should have think about the whole series of the twilight books before they choose the cast because for the nest series, new moon, they will be recasting jacob black and it's not really approving for the fans.i like tylor for jacob but if the new cast is better for the role, They think... then it's ok.i just hope that the whole movie will be close to the book.as twilight, i have observed that there are some scenes that are not the same from the book, just some small detail like when Bella told Edward that she knows who he is in the Forest Setting... but as what i have read in the book and understand, they talk about it in the car when they are on their way home from port angeles.
i just hope that the coming movies will be more closed to the book and i hope that they will not alter anything because the book is amazing.

I also agree that Steven Strait would be better for the leading contender of the part. He has similar features that look like Taylor Lautner and is a much a better actor then Michael Copon. But just give Taylor Lautner a chance.

I flat out think they just need to keep everyone the same. Fans will be really disappointed otherwise!

hello!! are you people gone mad?? Taylor Lautner is perfect!! no need for him to be "replaced".. besides.. i'd already read the whole 4 books -the twilight saga- and i just couldnt imagine someone else do jacob black's role better than him.. got it???!!!

you know it will cause a huge fit if they wanna change cast members now they should of pick the best people to film it from the begining they should of took in consideration of the whole saga and not keep up the changing it will lose money if they keep messing with the fans

i really love taylor in this role as jacob black...but when i've seen michael colon..he is really hot! i think its not bad if he replace taylor..he worth it! but i feel really bad for taylor...

I believe if you start with Taylor you should keep him for the sequals. He seems to be trying very hard to gain the weight. I think he as an actor will fulfill his role.

This is wrong! Taylor Lautner is playing Jacob Black and is working out to keep up with the character. Steph said herself on her website that he is the one and only person playing Jacob Black. He is the best!
