Keanu Reeves, who is starring in this month's The Day the Earth Stood Still, has signed on to play the lead in 47 Ronin, an epic period movie based on the true tale of a band of samurai swordsmen who avenged the death of their master in 18th century Japan.
In adventure, the actor will play one of the swordsmen; the group and their master are admired in Japan for their revenge attack on Dec. 14, 1702.

Very cool. I'm looking forward to DtheESS on the 12th; I think Reeves will do well with a Japanese epic provided he plays it not as if he is Japanese, but as if he were a samurai.
