Hugh Jackman who?

Twilight Writer Speaks on Movie Adaption

Melissa Rosenberg, one of the screenwriters behind Twilight, has spoken out about the challenges of adapting a best-selling novel into a blockbuster movie.

The executive producer on Dexter told TV Guide she tried to adapt the novel, rather than using it as a "jumping off point."

"We knew that if we were true to the book, if we honored it, fans would come with us," she said.

Edward Cullen

Rosenfeld saw a significant numbers of parallels between writing Twilight and writing for Showtime's Dexter, which chronicles the double-life of a serial killer.

"In both cases there is, at the center, a character who is not human, and seeks to be human," she said. "He passes as human, and is fascinated by humanity. What you get with characters like that is their exploration of what it is to be human, so it's a wonderful exploration, storytelling-wise, of that question exactly, and all the subtleties of it.

..

The grandest scope of love and commitment and the smaller things, like physical warmth, that appeals to me. That's what storytellng is at its heart, the exploration of the human condition."

Director Dishes on Hairspray 2

The likelihood of a Hairspray sequel just grew stronger than ever.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Adam Shankman talked about the follow-up to the original Zac Efron musical:

"We just got an outline and some ideas from John Waters, and now we're going out to writers," Shankman said, adding that the story will follow Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky) and her friends as they navigate the "next era of music," the late '60s.

"That period was superpolitical, it was a time of serious change."

Link Larkin

According to Shankman, Link (Efron) will become steeped in the British Invasion: "We're trying to track, in a comedic way, the historical elements."

Hairspray 2 will be released in July 2010.

Sam Worthington is Psyched for Terminator Salvation

Sam Worthington's Marcus Wright squares off against Christian Bale's John Connor in Terminator Salvation.

Months before the movie's May 22 premiere, though, the actors are already butting heads. Sort of.

A few weeks ago, Bale casually mentioned that the latest installment in this franchise was "alright." Worthington has now responded to that possible slight:

"From my own eyes and early screening of Terminator Salvation, I can say that what I have seen and what McG is putting together is exciting and a thrilling ride. And with that he is always striving to maintain strong emotional journeys and the truth of this world. I consider the movie beyond, 'alright.'

I consider where they are at in the post production process and [director] McG's constant effort, is to make a movie rooted in diehard mythology but also to advance the series. And I believe McG has something to prove and like any good man is willing to risk and has to put himself on the line - to 'man up' and deliver beyond 'alright!!'"
