G.I. Joe Producer Predicts Big Things

Here's the latest on next summer's G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

Executive producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told MTV News that the film is looking great so far.

“We are in post-production, and it’s looking really good,” said Bonaventura, marveling over a few of the early scenes he’s been working on with director Stephen Sommers. “It’s going to be really fun, and it’s going to be big.”

The G.I. Joe producer added:

“There is going to be two or three really large sequences in it that are really going to blow people away. But I think that, more than anything, what differentiates it from a lot of these big movies is that there are eight or nine very well-drawn characters.”

Robert Pattinson to Star as Salvador Dalí

Aaron Eckhart Rumored for Jack Ryan Role

According to Moviehole, a new favorite has emerged for the role of Jack Ryan in another movie in the former Tom Clancy franchise.

Reportedly, Aaron Eckhart is at the top of the filmmaker's casting wish list.

"He hasn't been offered the role – it's merely a thought at this stage, but he's a name that keeps popping up in relation to the part of Ryan, so someone over there obviously likes him," said a source.

Eckhart, of course, was most recently seen as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Dark Knight.

Coming in 2010: The Return of Xander Cage

Director Rob Cohen has confirmed that he and Vin Diesel are teaming up again for XXX: The Return of Xander Cage.

The director spoke to Collider this week and revealed target dates for shooting and the film's release:

"Yes, they're doing it with me and producer Joe Roth. We made the deal recently, it's named XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. We met the writers yesterday and we're trying to get into production by late spring, to have it out for the summer of 2010."

Don Cheadle Confirmed for Iron Man 2 and The Avengers

Marvel Studios has confirmed that Don Cheadle will be taking on the role of olonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes in a number of future films.

Here's the press release sent out this week by the studio:

Marvel Studios is pleased today to confirm that an agreement has been finalized with award-winning actor Don Cheadle to take on the role of Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes in Marvel's Iron Man 2 due in theaters on May 7, 2010. In casting Cheadle, Marvel replaces Terrence Howard who appeared in the role of Rhodey in Iron Man.

Cheadle is also signed on to perform the same role in THE AVENGERS and subsequent installments of the Iron Man franchise.

"We are very excited about working with the extraordinarily talented Don Cheadle as we expand the role of Rhodey in Iron Man 2. It has already become apparent as we prep the movie for production, that the dynamic between Robert and Don will take Iron Man 2 to new heights," said Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.

First Look at Angels & Demons Stills

We have a first look of pictures from Ron Howard's Angels & Demons, the follow up to the commercially successful 2006 The Da Vinci Code.

The movie is based on the best selling novel of the same name by Dan Brown and actually was written and takes place before The Da Vinci Code.  The book follows the same charzcter, Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks).  In this adventure Langdon is investigating a war between science at religion at the Vatican and is much faster paced than Da Vinci code and should make for a better movie according to its producer.

Also worthy of noting is Tom Hanks will not have his silly haircut.  Enjoy the following movie stills:

Footloose: On the Fast Track!

It's officially a proven box office formula for success: Zac Efron + Kenny Ortega = Big Bucks!

After watching Efron and director Ortega pull in a $42 million opening weekend for High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Paramount Pictures is reportedly fast-tracking a remake of Footloose, hoping to get the movie ready for production next spring.

According to Variety, the studio has called on Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett to rewrite the Jon Hartmere script and hired Craig Zadan and Neil Meron to join Dylan Sellers as producer.

Efron, who is starring in 17 Again this spring alongside Leslie Mann, will be paid a mid-seven-figure salary and give him script approval. The actor is on the verge of superstardom.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Clip of Marty

Adrien Brody Stars in The Courier

Adrien Brody has oficially signed by play the title character in The Courier, an action flick directed by Russell Mulcahy according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The screenplay, written by Michael Brand and Derek Haas, the team that helped bring us Wanted and 3:10 to Yuma, centers on a daredevil courier who is delivering a briefcase to some underground guy who can't be found.  Production will begin in January in Louisana and Las Vegas.

Adrien Brody's last movie as The Darjeeling Limited and next appears in The Brother Bloom.
