Following this week's release of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie trailer, it's been been announced that the film will premiere as this year's Royal Film Performance.

The big screen adaptation of the sixth Harry Potter book will premiere on November 17, four days prior to the film's Great Britain release.

There's no word yet as to which members of the British royal family will attend.

Ron, Hermione and Harry will receive a royal greeting in England this fall.

Ready to go on a Hell Ride, movie fans?

The Larry Bishop-directed film comes out on August 8. Here's a preview for it:

Robert De Niro is set join Mel Gibson in Edge of Darkness, the Martin Campbell-directed thrilled.

According to Variety, Gibson will portray as Thomas Craven, a straitlaced homicide detective for the Boston Police Deptartment and single father. His 24-year old daughter is murdered on the steps of his home.

Craven assumes he was the target, but his investigation leads in another direction, as he uncovers his daughter's secret life, a corporate cover-up and government collusion.

De Niro will play an operative sent to clean up the evidence.

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the following new Terminator Salvation photo. It features Christian Bale (as John Connor) staring down Sam Worthington (as Marcus Wright).

The new Terminator movie opens on May 22, 2009 and also stars Anton Yelchin, Bryce Dallas Howard, Moon Bloodgood, Common, Jadagrace and Helena Bonham Carter.

Another weekend, another box office domination by The Dark Knight.

At its current pace, The Dark Knight will easily gross over $480 million, placing it number-two on the list of highest grossing domestic releases of all time, just behind Titanic. Here's the weekend's top five:

1. The Dark Knight: $43.8 million
   
2. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor: $42.5 million
3. Step Brothers: $16.3 million
   
4. Mamma Mia!: $13.1 million
5. Journey to the Center of the Earth: $6.88 million

The Joker is clapping all the way to the bank.

As usual, we'd like to end this week with a listen of movies coming out this weekend.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we're getting anything that spectacular, but if you've seen The Dark Knight a few too many times, here are your options:

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Stars: Brendan Fraser, Jeti Li
Quick synopsis: The third in the Mummy trilogy has Rick O'Connell up against Jet Li and and army of soldiers.
Prediction: Despite being panned by critics, this movie will still do well opening weekend.

Swing Vote
Stars: Kevin Costner, Kelsey Grammer, Dennis Hopper
Quick synopsis: One man's vote will decide the next election, watch him be wooed.
Prediction: Not going to fair too well.  Maybe we'll see it on DVD.

In addition to Swing Vote opening this weekend, we also have The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor starring Brendan Fraser and Jet Li.  However, unlike Swing Vote which is getitng mixed reviews, it looks like there's a consensus on the third Mummy movie: it sucks.

If you've already seen The Dark Knight five times and are looking for something else to occupy your time, you might want to take a look at Swing Vote this weekend. 

It looks like Swing Vote is getting mixed reviews from the critics mostly due to it being too lightweight on the political satire side.  At least it sounds like it's a cute movie to see the relationship between Kevin Costner and his on-screen daughter.  Here's a sampling of reviews from around the net.

- Swing Vote lopes along and is best taken as a tale of a father and a daughter coming through a rough patch to a better place, rather than anything to do with real-world politics. --  Chicago Tribune

- One minute you're laughing at its sendup of the political process, and the next you're stricken by the sorry state of the sweet and brainy protagonist's family. -- USA Today
