Will Ferrell and Adam McKay Fuel Anchorman 2 Rumors

Wrier Adam McKay has teamed up again with Will Ferrell for the upcoming comedy Step Brothers.

When these two sat down with ComingSoon.net to discuss that project, however, focus turned to the exciting possibility of a follow-up to an earlier film that focused on a certain, arrogant, clueless news man.

"We just had so much fun making that movie, and it was hard to get made, but what's been great is that it's taken on such a life of its own," Ferrell said about Anchorman, while hinting at the possibility of a sequel. "At least the feedback we get is it's beloved, so yeah, it's just one of those that feels like an evergreen thing that we can go back and do it again."

Ron Burgundy gets himself ready for an Anchorman sequel.

McKay also commented on the rumors of Anchorman 2.

"We had a lot of ideas," McKay said. "The opportunity to be that free and loose. The audience would give us a lot of rope with that character at this point, a lot of free rein. They all know it, and they all know it's going to get crazy, and that's just too tempting. It's like oh my God, where can we go? What's the next level of this idea we can push to?"

A suggestion of showing Ron in the 1980s has been flloated, McKay added.

"We got about seven ideas we're kicking around right now, so somewhere out of all of them, it will somehow fit together."

Happy Birthday, Willem Dafoe!

Willem Dafoe turns 55 today.

While not an A-list actor, Dafoe has been in the news these days because talk of a Boondock Saints sequel is prominent. The original was the film that catapulted Dafoe onto the Hollywood radar.

Aside from that cult classic, Dafoe has found commercial success with the Spider-Man franchise.

Screenwriter Teases New Batman Villain, The Dark Knight Follow-Up

Let It Burn

Screenwriter David Goyer told MTV over the weekend that he has an idea of what Batman 3 (can we call it that? Perhaps we should leave it as just a follow-up to The Dark Knight?) will be about.

He admits, however, that the prospects for the film are daunting, especially considering the rave reviews the last two have received.

“I think that’s the scariest thing – to think, could we come up with a third movie that was as good as the first two? Can we top ourselves?” Goyer asked aloud. “Doing it a third time would be a big proposition.”

Don't be fooled, of course: there will be another Batman movie.

Goyer even mentioned that he has a villian in mind for it, but: “I do think, though, that if there’s not a third film – these two movies stand on their own... I think it could go either way.”

Again, just to reiterate: there will be a third film. Have no fear.

When the second one sets a box office record, that's pretty much a no-brainer.

Special Effects Supervisor Goes Inside The X-Files: I Want to Believe

For Andres Dominguez, there's no business like snow business.

The special effects guru - who has worked on movies such as Seven Years in Tibet, Fantastic Four and X-Men: The Last Stand - recently spoke to The Los Angeles Times about his work on The X-Files: I Want to Believe:

Winter wonderland: While shooting on location in downtown Vancouver, Dominguez says his initial instruction was to make the set look "like Alaska: completely covered." But the city doesn't get a lot of snowfall, so budget restraints kept the shoot limited to melty snow drifts.

"We ended up with a look where it had snow on the sidewalks and the streets are kind of wet," he said.

Mulder makes his way through (fake) snow in The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

So, how does one even go about manufacturing snow?

"To make snow, you need lots of air and high-pressure water," Dominguez said, adding that ideal temperature conditions are "if the weather's below zero [Celsius] and low humidity. So when it was minus 10, the machine was running full on... If you do a flat area, you can probably put a layer of snow 4 inches high in five hours."

Crazy Movie Rumor of the Day: Top Gun 2 Planned

Take this with a grain of salt the size of Tom Cruise's ego.

But Great Britain's The Sun reports that Mr. Katie Holmes has been asked to reprise his role as Maverick for a Top Gun sequel.

Would you line up to watch Top Gun 2?

A script outline has supposedly been written, as the sequel just depends on Cruise giving his approval.

“The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor — and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot,” said an insider.

Let the Debate Begin: Who Will Be the Next Batman Villain?

The Dark Knight has only been released for a few days, yet talk of the next Batman installment has already begun.

Specifically, rumors are circulating about who might portray the next enemy of the Caped Crusader, assuming The Joker is not resuscitated by a new actor (an incredibly unlikely possibility, in our opinion).

You can most likely count out extreme, caricature-like baddies such as Mr. Freeze. But that still leaves a wide open field of options. Just don't ask director Christopher Nolan to name his favorite yet.

"I'm clueless right now," he told MTV. "All I can think about is taking a vacation — for a month!"

Other cast members from The Dark Knight did weigh in with their views, however.

"I always liked the Riddler," Gary Oldman said. "I liked the whole Riddle aspect. I loved the suit."

The Joker Attacks

Who will replace The Joker as Batman's main rival in the next installment of this franchise?

Nestor Carbonell, who plays the mayor of Gotham City in the current movie, would go with a sexier villain.

"Catwoman, you can always bring her back," he said. "You can never see enough of her."

Except when she's the star of her own awful movie, that is (no offense, Halle Berry).

Remember, Carbonell added, like his relationship with Harvey Dent, Batman and his new foe might not always start out on opposite sides.

"What I really like is when you turn people into villains, when you see them flip," the actor said. "That's a great twist. And there's certain people you see in this one, certain characters who you didn't realize could go the other way, who could show up in the next one in an unexpected way."

Boondock Saints Sequel Spoilers, News

It’s been four months since Troy Duffy announced that a Boondock Saints sequel was in the works.

Recently, writer/director of this cult classic appeared on WJFK 106.7 and confirmed that the film is scheduled to go into production in August, barring a strike by actors.

Slash Film quoted Duffy, as he revealed the plot of the Boondock Saints follow-up:

“You kind of wonder what has happened to the brothers… They have been living way back in the valleys of Ireland with their father on a family run sheep farm, way beyond the reach of technology or men. Way out there. It’s been sort of a bucolic existence, hard working pioneer-esque type stuff.

Il Duce

Will you see Boondock Saints 2?

They have long hair and beards, and stuff like that. You get the sense that they’ve been hibernating to come back. And there is an event that transpires in Boston.

A priest murdered in a church and the body is rigged to make it look like the Saints did it. The one guy that the brothers and father have contact with is Il Duce’s brother.

So he gets the first notion of this, puts his jeep in gear and tells the brothers what happened. And without even thinking of it the boys are up and out of there … they cut their hair, digg up their rosaries, strap on their guns, and they’re gone!
