Wanted Sequel Moves Ahead

According to Variety, Universal Pictures has resigned Wanted Marc Platt for five years. And one of the producer's first missions?

To get a Wanted sequel up and running.

Platt acknowledged that the creative team is still working on the challenge of continuing the movie's story, considering most of the principal characters - including Angelina Jolie - ended the original in no position for an encore.

However, the film was designed as a potential franchise - and it is still performing strongly, having grossed $192.6 million worldwide.

"The writers are at work already, and those creative discussions are taking place," said Platt about the Wanted sequel.

We know James McAvoy would be back for another Wanted. But can Angelina Jolie be resuscitated for a sequel?

British Singer Signed on for S. Darko Soundtrack

British singer Ed Harcourt (pictured) will reportedly provide the score for the forthcoming Donnie Darko sequel, S. Darko.

Harcourt told Entertainment Weekly that while he never met director Chris Fisher, he submitted three pieces of music for consideration after reading the S. Darko script, and was excited to learn that he was hired the gig. The movie is slated for release in 2009.

The singer/song writer said he's already hard at work on a variety of music influenced by the music of Autechre, Aphex Twin, Phillip Glass, and Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. His goal: to make it "surreal and psychedelic, just like the movie."

James Marsters: Dragonball Movie Differs from Series

Tough news, Dragonball fans:

James Marsters, who plays the villainous Lord Piccolo in the live-action version of the anime series Dragonball, recently told the Japanese magazine Jump Square that there are plenty of changes in store for fans of the original show.

"Definitely the story of this movie is different from the original, said the actor. "But it’s a necessary change because we need to condense the long story of the original for a movie."

Another bad sign for the Dragonball purists is Marsters' admission that "some characters in the original don’t appear in the movie... Though there are differences between the two, I think it is all right if the core part of Dragonball remains."

Do you agree, readers? Are you looking forward to this big screen adaption?

Aaron Eckhart: One Interview, Two Faces

It's safe to say movie goers can't get enough news from the cast of The Dark Knight.

With that said, here's another interview with Aaron Eckhart. The actor that plays Harvey Dent/Two-Face in the film recently spoke to The Wall Street Journal. Here are highlights:

WSJ: When you're acting in a comic-book movie opposite a guy wearing a caped costume, is it hard to resist going over the top?
Eckhart: I took a day or two to look around and see what everyone else was up to. Sometimes you're not sure what the tone of the movie is, especially if you have to be acting with the Batman or the Joker. Heath really set the tone of the film and how dark it was. Still, there were a lot of questions. How big do I go? Do we play it for laughs?

Aaron Eckhart

WSJ: Even if Heath Ledger hadn't died, people would be talking about his performance. What signs did you see that something special was coming from him?
Eckhart: I saw it the first time he started reading. Heath had gone to the wall to be in the picture. We'd have to do makeup at the same time, and he would really use that time to get into the character and do the voices. Everyone was aware of what Heath was doing. When Gary Oldman is paying attention, you know that something special is happening.

Where the Wild Things Are Update

As the big screen adaption of Where the Wild Things Are continues to face trouble, The Los Angeles Times spoke to Warner Brothers President Alan Horn to go on the record about the troubled project, specifically director Spike Jonze's efforts to make it work.

"We've given him more money and, even more importantly, more time for him to work on the film," Horn told the newspaper.

Where the Wild Things Are

Horn continued:

"We'd like to find a common ground that represents Spike's vision, but still offers a film that really delivers for a broad-based audience. We obviously still have a challenge on our hands. But I wouldn't call it a problem, simply a challenge. No one wants to turn this into a bland, sanitized studio movie. This is a very special piece of material and we're just trying to get it right."

Where the Wild Things Are, of course, is based on the wildly popular children's book by Maurice Sendak.
