Industry experts estimate an opening weekend take for the The Dark Knight of at least $130 million.

As that astronomical figure sinks in, here are more incrediyl, early figures for the film:

  • It will play on 4,366 screens across North America, an industry record.
  • Fandango (which sells tickets to more than 15,000 theater screens) reports that The Dark Knight accounts for 90% of all ticket sales for the upcoming weekend. Sorry, Mamma Mia!
  • To date, The Dark Knight has more than three times as many advance tickets as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, more than twice as many as Spider-Man 3 and almost twice as many as Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers at the same point in the sales cycle.

We'll have a complete breakdown of the post-weekend numbers next week. For now, to all the people set to see the movie: enjoy!

Luke Goss Promises Realistic Tekken Movie

Luke Goss plays Steve Fox in the upcoming Tekken movie. The actor - who is currently starring as Prince Nuada in Hellboy II: The Golden Army - spoke to MTV about the character.

“I play him 15 years after his kind of champion days. He’s in the underbelly at that time of the Tekken environment,” Goss said. “He’s trying to find a protégé to go and kick some Tekken butt and he just might do it.”

Tekken, for those unaware, was a famous series of eight fighter games for various platforms, the first of which was released in 1994. Unlike numerous fighter games, Tekken came with the support of the martial arts community, who generally praised the game for its fighting styles, which bore a strong correlation to actual maneuvers.

Goss explained that those same moves have now gone full circle, as each and every fighter’s style has been carefully reproduced for the 2009 film.

“The same producers were very adamant to make sure that the characters that were in the game translated quite literally to the movie — visually and everything,” Goss said.

“Their fight styles were studied and the way they looked, the producers wanted people that looked similar to the actual characters in the game. They understood that genre fans and game fans would want that. I think they did a good job.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal Speaks on Rachel Dawes

Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight.

But as film fans know, it's a role that Katie Holmes took on in Batman Begins. As Gyllenhaal recently told The Los Angeles Times, though, that she was committed from the beginning to making the character her own.

"When [director and co-writer] Chris Nolan gave me the script, he said, 'She's not quite finished yet,'" Gyllenhaal said of the character. "So I read it, and I had a lot of ideas about ways that I thought that she could be stronger. And he was very open and collaborative and interested. In that first preliminary conversation, a lot of things that we talked about ended up in the movie.

It was really trying to find a way that I was absolutely in love with Harvey Dent and absolutely in love with Bruce Wayne, the ways I found them both honorable, ethical, moral men and the ways that I had problems with their ethics and morals."

Seth MacFarlane Fuels Family Guy Movie Rumors

During an interview with TV Week, Seth MacFarlane acknowledged the strong possibility of a Family Guy movie.

“We do want to do it and we will do it at some point. It’s just time," the show creator said. "We in the past 6 months started talking seriously about it. So my hope is that we’ll get going in the next year. Doing the show is a seven day a week process and finding the time to squeeze in a movie is… I don’t know how we’re gonna do it, but we’ll figure it out.”

As for the plot, MacFarlane said:

“I have an idea of what it’s gonna be. It’s definitely something that you could not do on the show, which to me is the only reason to do a movie.”

Luke Ford Speaks on The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Luke Ford is hoping to make a name for himself in America with his role in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

The Aussie recently spoke to IGN about his part in the Brendan Frasier franchise:

What is your role in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor?
If you've seen the other Mummy films, I'm the son all grown up. They're kind of prepping me to become either a massively significant part or to take over the series depending on where they want to go with it and also depending on what Brendan wants to do.

I'd love to work with Brendan again, and Maria Bello, she took over Rachel Weisz's character, and she's a ripper of an actress. Playing Alex O'Connell was a very big demanding role, in some ways more demanding than Black Balloon. 75% of the time I'm on screen is all action scenes; fighting, jumping, shouting and screaming.
