Reel Movie Reviews: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

A certain movie about a certain adventurous archaeologist comes out this week. Perhaps you've heard of it: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

While the opinion of critics is unlikely to affect this film's box office take, it's still worth noting their view on Harrison Ford's foray back into the most famous hat and whip combination in the world. To wit:

- In spite of an over reliance on CG, and one too many obvious moments of George Lucas-involved tomfoolery, this is a great piece of studio-produced escapist entertainment... -- Dark Horizons

- One of the most eagerly and long-awaited series follow-ups in screen history delivers the goods -- not those of the still first-rate original, 1981's "Raiders of the Lost Ark," but those of its uneven two successors... -- Variety

The Crystal Skull!

- I can say that if you liked the other Indiana Jones movies, you will like this one, and that if you did not, there is no talking to you... --  Roger Ebert

- Even with the ponderous dialogue, there is considerable fun, and it's good to see that Indy, though slightly weary, still has the goods... -- USA Today

Opening This Weekend: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Kim Cattrall Speaks on Sex and the City Movie Rumors

As the actress rumored to have held up a Sex and the City movie, Kim Cattrall makes for an interesting interview. She recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the film:

How did it feel to go back to Samantha?
Really, really exciting. The first day of shooting was beyond anything that I had ever witnessed. A girlfriend came to visit me on the set and she nudged me and said, ''You guys are the Beatles!'' On both sides of the street, in the middle partition of Park Avenue where we were filming, it was standing room only. All the plants were being crushed, people were yelling our names, our characters' names, Pat Field's name...

It was like they were in on something that they thought had passed and that they would only dream about or watch on DVD, and now they were part of it as well. It was really exciting. Getting back into shape with those high heels â€" that was the only not-fun part about it. At night, the goddamn balls of my feet were throbbing.

When the movie fell apart the first time around, all of the finger-pointing turned your way. How did that feel?
Well, it's devastating, because it was not true. What am I gonna say? I tried to give the story and my side of it. My separation from my husband, and then my divorce, was all over the headlines here in New York and in the gossip columns. That was just really hurtful. People in my family I hadn't even told, and because I wasn't here or there with my husband, people starting putting things together. I kind of really needed to get away.

Peter Dinklage Discusses The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Peter Dinklage wasn't sure he wanted to play Trumpkin (the red dwarf) in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Therefore, the actor flew to Los Angeles to meet with Andrew Adamson, who had directed the first Chronicles of Narnia movie three years ago and was in pre-production before directing the sequel.

"I wasn't completely sold on the idea until I met him," Dinklage told USA Today.

After seeing his own images on a story board, though, Dinklage was sold.

In the sequel, out today, the Pevensie children return to Narnia to help Prince Caspian claim his throne, which has been usurped by his evil uncle, King Miraz. Trumpkin, one of the many Narnians in hiding, fights alongside the Pevensies.

He's a "cynical, begrudging caretaker," Dinklage said. "I'm like the crazy Mary Poppins."

Surf's Up for Point Break Sequel!

Talk of sequels are everywhere in Hollywood these days.

Iron Man 2 has been confirmed, while there are heavy rumors circulating about Cloverfield 2 and even a follow-up to Donnie Darko.

Now, seventeen years after Point Break washed up in movie theaters, a sequel has pretty much been confirmed. It will be called Point Break: Indo, and Jan de Bont aboard to direct.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, RGM Entertainment and Essential Entertainment will produce this Asia-based follow-up to director Kathryn Bigelow's original, which starred de Bont's "Speed" lead Keanu Reeves, of course.

The new movie will take place 20 years after the disappearance of one of the criminal surfers, portrayed in the original by Patrick Swayze.
