W Finds a Vice President

Josh Brolin finally has a vice president.

The movie W has nabbed Richard Dreyfuss to play Dick Cheney. The role is the last major position in the Bush administration to be filled, as the West Wing is already occupied by the likes of Brolin (President Bush) Thandie Newton (Condoleezza Rice) and Elizabeth Banks (Laura Bush).

The 60-year-old Dreyfuss starred as an opposition senator to Michael Douglas' commander in chief in 1995's "The American President," his other major experience on film within the political world.

Mel Brooks: Steve Carell is Brilliant

Earlier this week, The Los Angeles Times interviewed Mel Brooks, the co-creator of Get Smart, about the upcoming Steve Carell comedy. The director had nothing but praise for the film's star:

"It's got a good director, Peter Segal. Wonderful director. The writers were great. The producers were young and aggressive and smart. But the brilliance is Steve Carell," Brooks said. "To choose a guy who's right in the Don Adams groove. You couldn't get a better guy than Steve Carell. And yet he doesn't do Don Adams. He does none of his delivery. He just does Steve Carell."

Q: It seems like the premise is strong enough to have multiple interpretations of Maxwell Smart.
A: "It's the earnest stupidity of organizations like the CIA. I would say honest and earnest stupidity. They want to do a good job. But they don't hire enough [multicultural people]. They hire too many WASPs and they get too much white-bread thinking."

Look for Get Smart in theaters on June 20.

Shia LaBeouf Speaks on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Character

Shia LaBeouf recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly for a discussion about his character in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Mutt Williams.

Here are highlights from the interview:

Entertainment Weekly: What was it like meeting Harrison Ford?
Shia LaBeouf: He's the John Wayne of my generation, for sure. He's the quintessential movie star. And the fact that he doesn't really care is beautiful.

Mutt Williams

Your Crystal Skull character, Mutt, is pretty handy with blades and swords.
Steven and George wanted the character to have a switchblade. The thing became like a third arm. The floors are now disgusting in my house because there's all these knife gouges in the floor from me throwing the knife. I was on the Transformers press tour while I was getting my knives ready. So I'd take this knife with me to Italy and to Germany, and I'm trying to stash this switchblade in different places in my luggage so I don't get in trouble.

I've read and heard that you watched a lot of old movies â€" The Wild One, Blackboard Jungle, Rebel Without a Cause â€" to get ready to play Mutt.
I also remember Steven telling me to watch Red River, watch Montgomery Clift, and his cadence and his mannerisms and the way he dealt with John Wayne. That was my homework. George, of course, made American Graffiti and knows all about the demimonde of the ''greaser.''

No? You already knew that and have had the date circled for the past six months? We figured as much.

Cameron Diaz has no hair. And looks happy about it!

Pitka Guest Stars on American Idol

Adam Sandler appeared in a commercial for the NBA Playoffs a few weeks ago, in an attempt to hype his movie You Don't Mess with the Zohan.

Mike Myers, though, took self-promotion a step further this week: he starred in a segment on the American Idol finale. Dressed as the character of Pitka from The Love Guru, the actor attempted to shave eventually winner David Cook. He was unsuccessful.

Will War, Inc. be the first war-related movie to actually make money at the box office? Maybe the trailer below will give us an idea:

Kristin Davis Dishes on Sex and the City Movie

Kristin Davis has returned to playing Charlotte York - sorry, Charlotte York Goldenblatt - after a four-year hiatus. She recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about filming Sex and the City: The Movie.

There was also all the insane media scrutiny and hordes of paparazzi while you were shooting. Was that distracting?
Certainly, sometimes, definitely. There's this huge energetic thing that happens in New York. So I feel like it made me go into super-focus land, which is actually a good thing. At one point, my back was to the crowd and the paparazzi â€" the other girls were facing me â€" and the paparazzi were like, ''Kristin, move over! Move to the left!'' And I did it because everyone is shouting at me.

Charlotte York

It's like you're a robot. So I move over to the left and I'm like, ''What?! Wait a minute! My mark is over there. I'm supposed to be doing a scene!'' So it was a little challenging, but I don't think the movie would have been made if we didn't have that kind of fan support.

How is Charlotte doing, when we find her?
Well, her journey has been that she now has gotten these things that she has wanted for so long. Yes, they look different than she [originally] wanted, but it's been a satisfying shift for her and she's more grounded, a little bit less high-strung, a little bit less controlling.

The apartment isn't solid white â€" there's some color! And then I would say the biggest issue is that she kind of feels guilty. It's hard when you actually get the things that you fight for so hard and for so long and then maybe your friends don't have them. She feels a little separate from them, which she doesn't want to feel.
