Emile Hirsch Dishes on Speed Racer

With Iron Man having left its impressive mark on the movie world this past weekend, the next big film on the horizon is Speed Racer. It opens on Friday.

Below, star Emile Hirsch talks with ComingSoon.net about filming such a special effects-oriented adventure...

CS: Were you loving the green screen experience? John Goodman said it was like working in low-budget theater.

Hirsch: That's funny. That's pretty funny. He's right. There are no sets or props. It's like your doing "Waiting for Godot" or something.

CS: What are your memories of it?
Hirsch: Just kind of this green wall, talking to it, thinking about it. What was really weird was doing the car scenes because we did it on a hydraulic pump called a gimbal. All of my anger in the film is so authentic because they were just slamming me around in the simulator for hours. It was green and hot and there are lights on you and you can't move because you're strapped in.

You get literally frustrated to the point where you want to rip the thing apart with a bat, and arrrggh. I think I have a drawing of me breaking it. I'm serious. All the scenes where I'm like arrrggh, it's just me. Imagine if it was comfortable and I was happy, I'd be like, "Hey, guys, get out of my way" (smiling).

Marvel Confirms Iron Man Sequel, Releases Movie Schedule

On the heels of an almost $200 million weekend (!), Iron Man doesn't appear just likely to come out with a sequel; Marvel Entertainment has confirmed a follow-up to this blockbuster.

The studio has released its feature film slate, starting in 2010. The already-rumored Iron Man 2 is set for April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of 2010 and 2011:

  • Matthew Vaughn's Thor is set for a release on June 4, 2010;
  • The First Avenger: Captain America (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6;
  • The Avengers is scheduled for July 2011.

In a conference call, Marvel Studios' David Maisel said that Iron Man 2 will be used to introduce Thor.

Also, Regarding more Incredible Hulk movies, Maisel said they "definitely plan on continuing," while adding that development continues on Spider-Man 4.

"I can't give any other updates other than to say it's in development and everybody's excited about Spider-Man 4," he said.

Movie Director Comments on Rumored Death and the City

Rumors floating around the release of the Sex and the City movie - sparked by comments Cynthia Nixon made - state that a major character will die in the anticipated summer release.

Specifically, talk has turned to the possible death of Mr. Big (Chris Noth) because, come on, none of the fab four will be perishing. That would truly be insane.

But director Michael Patrick King says the idea of killing off Big would be equally idiotic for the franchise.

"Kill Mr. Big? I would have been chased around the planet by women with torches," he joked to the Associated Press.

However, King did confide that he was looking to infuse some layers of melodrama into this film adaptation of the show; perhaps not as much as a darker drama would call for, though.

"My ultimate target," King said, "was to make our 'girlfriends' â€" in other words, our audience â€" happy. And I don't think Mr. Big dying would make them happy."

When pressed on the possibility of potential other deaths, the director seemed to hint at something: "It's a summer movie," he said. "Why would I want to kill anyone?"

Considering summer is the season for action-packed thrilled that involve many heart beats coming to an end, sounds like sarcasm to us - and another reason to go see Sex and the City: The Movie!

Aaron Eckhart Drops Details on Two-Face

In a new interview with The Los Angeles Times, Aaron Eckhart dropped some significant details about Two-Face in The Dark Knight. Here's an excerpt:

"I can tell you that, basically, when you look at Two-Face, you should get sick to your stomach. Being the guy under all that, well, that was a lot of fun for me. It's like you would feel if you met someone whose face had pretty much been ripped off or burned off with acid. I can't talk about it beyond that because I don't want to give away too much of the plans by [director Chris Nolan]."

More Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Spoilers, Plot Details

While details of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull have remained mostly secret, the studio just sent over a new and revised synopsis for the upcoming adventure (check it out below, along with a series of photos from the film).

It begins in desert Southwest in 1957 â€" at the height of the Cold War.  Indiana and his sidekick Mac (Ray Winstone) have barely escaped a close scrape with nefarious Soviet agents on a remote airfield.

Now,  Jones has returned home to Marshall College, only to find that things have gone from bad to worse.  His close friend and dean of the college (Jim Broadbent) explains that Indy's recent activities have made him the object of suspicion; the government has put pressure on the university to fire him.

On his way out of town, Indiana meets rebellious young Mutt (Shia LaBeouf), who carries both a grudge and a proposition for the adventurous archaeologist:  If he'll help Mutt on a mission with deeply personal stakes, Indy could very well make one of the most spectacular archaeological finds in history:

The Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear.
