Opening This Weekend: Speed Racer, What Happens in Vegas

Only two major movies are opening this weekend; one offers high-tech fun for kids, the other focuses on romance and comedy for adults.

Here's a closer look at them...

Speed Racer
Stars: Emile Hirsch, Matthew Fox, Christina Ricci
Quick synopsis: Based on the classic 1960's Japanese animated series, follows the aspirations of a young race car driver as he attempts to obtain glory, with the help of his family.
Prediction: Not great timing here, as Iron Man will still dominate the box office, especially when it comes those seeking special effects.

What Happens in Vegas
Stars: Ashton Kutcher, Cameron Diaz
Quick synopsis: Two hot singles meet, get married, win money... and then try to get divorced.
Prediction: Looks like a fun romantic comedy, but expect a distant third place finish after Iron Man and Speed Racer.

Rae, 82, told the Associated Press that she and Sandler's character get it on in the movie, in which he plays an undercover Israeli commando who goes disguised as a hair stylist. So, how was Sandler in the sack, Charlotte?

"On a table from one to 10, I rate him 'not bad.'"

Producer Dishes on The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Prince Caspian PhotoMark Johnson has served as the producer on both films from The Chronicles of Narnia series: first, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; and now Prince Caspian.

He recently spoke with Comingsoon.net about the projects. Here's an excerpt:

In the first movie, I don't think we really see too much that it takes place during World War II. Was that it ever talked about to make them modern kids rather than setting it during the '40s?
No, we definitely wanted to keep the war alive, both of them, and in the first one, it's more important, because you want to believe that their father has gone off to war, which has a real impact on Edmond. You also want very much to feel as though you have these four kids who are somewhat powerless.

All of a sudden, they're in a war-torn world in which they're being shuttled off to the countryside and in effect hiding and then all of a sudden, they find themselves in a new world where everyone's looking to them to save the day.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian opens on May 16.

Sarah Jessica Parker Spears on Sex and the City Movie, Characters

How have Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte changed from the heydey of the Sex and the City series to the upcoming Sex and the City movie?

Let's find out from star Sarah Jessica Parker:

Their lives are much less frivolous. They can't cope with their problems by putting on their sweats and staying up all night and ordering in food and gossiping about the men in their lives. There is less self-absorption but perhaps a little more self-awareness.

Reel Movie Reviews: What Happens in Vegas

What Happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas this weekend. It comes to a movie theater near you!

Is this Ashton Kutcher/Cameron Diaz comedy worth your time and money, though? Let's find out what a number of film critics thought of it...

- Sadly, about the nicest thing I can say about What Happens in Vegas is that I didn't hate it -- although I suppose that's something... -- Reel Views

- Though utterly contrived, predictable, and disposable, this counter-proragmming date flick has a certain charm, due to Cameron Diaz's sex appeal and ease with slapstick and her onscreen chemistry with lead man Ashton Kutcher... -- Emanuel Levy

What Happens in Vegas Movie Poster

- This tone-deaf flick from hack screenwriter Dana Fox, is an example of a Hollywood formula romantic comedy where the author never properly learned the recipe... -- Cole Smithey

- The film delivers what it promises as a freewheeling, bitchy-mouthed romantic comedy, so it's a good date movie... -- Urban Cinefile

Transformers 2 Update: No to Jonah Hill, Yes to Really Great Stuff

Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently broke some bad news to MTV:

The movie's sequel will not star Jonah Hill, as many sites have been reporting.

"No, no," he said of Hill's reported casting. "Ultimately, we'll have a couple casting surprises for everybody soon."

Director Michael Bay and returning stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Jon Voight are reportedly on board to return - and Bonaventura confirmed plans to start shooting the movie in Philadelphia and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania next month.

"Michael's got some really great stuff planned," he said.

Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Banks are George, Laura Bush

Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Banks grace the cover of the most recent Entertainment Weekly. But you'd be forgiven if you looked at the issue and thought the First Couple was actually featured in it.

Indeed, the two actors starred in Oliver Stone's movie about President George W. Bush, W, look eerily like their real-life counterparts.

The biopic will chronicle the life and presidency of the words President of the United States in this country's history. Bush is reportedly portrayed in the film as a foul-mouthed, reformed drunk obsessed with baseball, Saddam Hussein and the conflicted relationship with his dad.
