A comedic adventure starring Jodie Foster? Yes, that sums up Nim's Island.

Should you go see this departure for Foster? It also stars Gerard Butler ad Abigail Breslin. Here's how a few movie critics have graded the film...

- The worst movie of Jodie Foster's adult career, Nim's Island is as big a mess as you might expect from a movie with four credited writers (which means there were probably more) and two directors, all at apparent cross-purposes. -- Jam! Movies

- Nim's Island is a pleasant-enough jaunt for a family outing, but it never fully arrives at that 'perfect, secret world.' -- Houston Chronicle

- Its characters, especially the youngest one, are engaging, and few adults are immune to childhood fantasies about secluded tropical isles. -- The Hollywood Reporter

- Audiences may find early scenes of father-daughter family life more engaging than the adventures that ensue, but this is a fairly successful attempt at a preteen-friendly entertainment. -- Christian Science Monitor

Pineapple Express comes out on August 8 and promises to follow in the tradition of Knocked Up and Superbad. It stars James Franco and Seth Rogen.

Camilla Belle - from 10,000 B.C. - has signed on to star in Adrift.

Set in the 1980s, the movie, written by Dhalia, centers on a 14-year-old girl who struggles with her life when she learns of the infidelities of her father (Vincent Cassel) while undergoing her own sexual awakening.

Belle will play a young woman having an affair with the father. The movie will be released in Brazil in 2009.

According to the following images, The Joker takes on multiple roles in The Dark Knight. He isn't always decked out in clown-like face paint.

We spent a lot of time adding features for the new Natalie Portman movie, My Blueberry Nights, to our site. It opens in limited release this weekend and has generated a great deal of buzz.

We're trying not to get too excited about this yet, but Entertainment Weekly has learned that Matthew McConaughey has been offered the role of Thomas Magnum in Universal Pictures' adaptation of Magnum P.I.

The movie, of course, would be based on the 1980s TV show that starred Tom Selleck. For those too young to remember, the character is a former Navy Seal turned reluctant detective. Certainly seems a perfect match for the laid-back actor.

McConaughey, reportedly, is reading the script from writer/director Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball) and will decide shortly.

Harold and Kumar don't just escape from Guantanamo Bay in the sequel to their hit comedy, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

The pair of trouble makers also curse. A lot.

Nim's Island marks a different sort of role for Jodie Foster. The actress gets to show off her comedic and adventurous side on film for a change.

Below, she talks to ComingSoon.net about the movie...

ComingSoon.net: Can you talk about what drew you to this project?
Jodie Foster: I've been wanting to do a comedy for a long time actually. "Maverick" was such a great experience. I really, really enjoyed it. Lightness is a part of your life too. You're not all just darkness. There's lightness too. But then I couldn't find anything that was good enough.

I read this script and kept banging down doors and lobbying for it and definitely the first studio they were at, they had a different arrangement with the studio at that time and they were not keen on me at all, understandably. They know me for my dark dramas.

CS: Did you feel silly at all while you were doing some of the stuff in this movie?
Foster: Yeah, but I think that silly is good. You're looking for that. What's interesting to me in this movie is that I find myself talking about things like fear and this sort of solitary world that she's created, finding a hero in yourself. Those are all themes that I've played in dramas many, many times �" very dark dramas.

Here I am doing a comedy about them, which is kind of like making fun of your most precious thing. You're making fun of the parts of yourself that are the little fragile parts of you. You have to have an ability in order to be a comedy actor.

Great news, fans of The OC!

Amanda Righetti - who memorably played Kirsten's gorgeous, younger sister in the former FOX series - is in final negotiations to play the female lead in the Michael Bay-produced remake of Friday the 13th.

Filming on the horror movie begins April 21 in Austin, Texas. Jared Padalecki and Derek Mears will co-star in flick, which is scheduled for a February 13, 2009 release. Are you frightened yet?
