Reel Movie Reviews: Made of Honor

Is Made of Honor as tiresome as its plot suggests? Or as cheesy as its title suggests?

You can tell what our opinion of this Patrick Dempsey movie just from those opening sentences. But do critics around the country agree? Let's find out...

- How do I loathe the soul-crushingly predictable Made of Honor? Let me count the ways... -- Slant Magazine

- A strong opening, bursting with wit and vigour, gives way to a predictable, patronising and immensely lazy second half. Could have been so much more... -- Empire Magazine

Tom, Made of Honor

- An amusing, smartly cast romantic comedy told from a guy's perspective... -- The Hollywood Reporter

- Director Paul Weiland and the three (!) screenwriters it took to boil down thousands of bad movies into 101 minutes haven't provided this one with a single original thought... -- Village Voice

The Son of Rambow Movie Trailer

Opening the same weekend as Iron Man, Son of Rambow is unlikely to be crowned champion at the box office.

Still, the quirky comedy is receiving positive reviews from critics and may be worth a viewing. Here's the trailer for it:

Jonah Hill Rumored to Costar in Transformers 2

This would be a surprise bit of casting:

Jonah Hill is in early negotiations to costar opposite Shia LaBeouf in Transformers 2, according to a report in Entertainment Weekly.

Hill (Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) would provide the comic relief as a sidekick to Shia's Sam Witwicky, likely portraying Sam's college roommate. The sequel is set to begin shooting this summer.

Tom Cruise to Star in Mission: Impossible 4?

For those that think the repairing of Tom Cruise's public image is an impossible mission, they should consider the following rumor making the Internet rounds:

Cruise is set to be in another Mission: Impossible film, according to celebrity gossip maven Perez Hilton.

The actor - who is totally in love with Katie Holmes, in case you haven't heard, is reportedly reconnecting with Viacom CEO Sumner Redstone for the film.

"Tom will make M:I 4 once Paramount greenlights the script. There will most definitely be another Mission: Impossible," said a source.

Ian McKellen: Excited to Reprise Gandalf Role

Great news, movie fans!

Ian McKellen will reprise the role of the Gandalf in the upcoming movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit.

Beloved filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is set to direct two films based on this book.

"Yes, it's true," McKellen said. "I spoke to Guillermo in the very room that Peter Jackson offered me the part and he confirmed that I would be reprising the role. Obviously, it's not a part that you turn down, I loved playing Gandalf."

The actor added:

"But as to how it's going to work over two films and what's going to happen on screen, well Guillermo has not got down to working out the major details yet - I can tell you it's going to be amazing though."

Jon Favreau Hints at Iron Man 2... and 3!

In an interview last week, Terrence Howard hinted at the plot of an Iron Man sequel.

While director Jon Favreau wouldn't reveal that much, he admits that future Iron Man movies are on his brain.

"I thought about it," Favreau told IGN. "I have one, two, and three in my head, because if you don't then it seems like you're just re-treading the same ground. No, the way the Mandarin fits in, the way War Machine fits in, whether or not Obadiah [Stane] pops up again… There's a lot. The relationship of Pepper.

So we're really thinking and I'm watching the horizon as I do these movies so that it all makes sense as you watch them altogether. I mean, look at how well Lord of the Rings works. It builds to a climax, compared to movies where it just feels like you're redoing the same thing over and over again to diminishing returns."

New Iron Man Movie Poster

While Favreau may be dreaming of future Iron Man movies, he's quick to point out that he isn't even on board for a second movie yet.

"There is no second one yet," he said. "Part of what they do when they do an actor's deal is they sign you on for many because it can get very expensive. For director they don't see the need because they can make the movie with or without you. I would love to do a sequel to it and I think that depending on the success of the film..."

Jim Carrey Loves You, Phillip Morris

Amazingly enough, this isn't a sequel to The Birdcage.

It's actually Jim Carrey and Rodrigo Santoro (not pictured) shooting scenes for I Love You Phillip Morris.
