Movie Rumors: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to Premiere at Cannes

American movie goers will have to wait until May 22 to check out Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in a U.S. theater. That much is for certain.

But it's possible that foreigners might get an advanced screening of the highly-anticipated follow up, as Steven Spielberg's reps and the folks at the Cannes Film Festival are in negotiations to bring the film to Cannes for its official worldwide premiere in early May.

This Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull premiere would precede the scheduled opening for the movie in the States.

Olivia is Wilde About The Year One

Forgive us for the headline. It was just too easy.

In actual funny news, though, actress Olivia Wide says the upcoming comedy The Year One is exactly what you'd expect from a Michael Cera and Jack Black film.

"The script is so funny, I can't even tell you," the the 23-year-old costar told MTV. "I am a huge Monty Python fan, and it's definitely got some of that Monty Python-esque humor; it's over-the-top, but it's very smart."

The flick follows two men wandering through the days of early society, occasionally clashing over the love of a beautiful woman.

"I play the princess of Sodom," Wilde said. "Michael Cera and Jack Black go on this journey, and they are searching for the meaning of life, essentially; all these crazy things happen to them, and they meet all these characters you'll recognize from the bible.

It's all these brilliant references to historical things that people will recognize, and some things from other films."

The Year One is currently scheduled for release on June 19, 2009.

A Best Picture Photo Montage: Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men

Reel Movie Reviews: Semi-Pro

reel-reviews-logo411.jpg The latest romp in Will Ferrell's growing line of sports comedies (Blades of Glory, Talladega Night: The Legend of Ricky Bobby) is called Semi-Pro.

It looks recycled, but funny. We love Farrell, but how many times can he play a cocky, misguided, stereotypical figure from a past decade?

Here's a sampling of how critics feel about Semi-Pro...

- Didn't he play this character in Blades of Glory? No, wait that was Talladega Nights. They're all starting to run together. -- Cinemablend.com

- I've seen Semi-Pro twice now â€" once at a press screening â€" and again at the special AICN screening we did. And I enjoyed it at both â€" quite a bit. The main thing that kicks ass about it is the supporting cast. -- Ain't It Cool Reviews

Moon Shot

- If you liked Ferrell's previous comedies, you will like his new vehicle, which benefits from chemistry with Harrelson and pleasantly recycles elements of the formula now set in the swinging 1970s, nicely conveyed through fashion and especially bad hair. -- Emanuel Levy

- Affectionate if foul-mouthed locker room method acting, with defensive moves on behalf of the mostly flabby-abs homeboy team concept. And counting all sorts of eccentric, nutty and deeply lovable players, before sports went commercial and big time. -- News Blaze

Cast, Crew Speak on X-Files 2

Mulder and Scully PhotoAt this year's WonderCon show, one of the more popular panels was that of The X-Files 2 movie. In attendance were series creator Chris Carter, writer Frank Spotnitz and stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.

Immediately, the group addressed the issues associated with the franchise's six-year absence.

"Because it'll scare the pants off of you," answered Carter when asked why this movie would be worth the wait. "Because you'll get to see Mulder and Scully together again, that's why."

For the actors, getting back into character after such an extended time away was a challenge.

"I had a really bad first couple of days," said Anderson. "I thought it was going to be really easy to step right into it. And I came to work very confident and I just sucked for a good 48 hours. It was harder than I thought."

"It was hard because a lot of time has passed for these two people as time has passed for all of us," added Duchovny. "And we want to honor the changes as well as keep them the same people. So I think we were both trying to figure out how to balance that â€" how to make them a little older and yet be the same people."
