James Marsters - best known to readers as Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer - is playing villainous demon king Piccolo in the live-action Dragon Ball movie.

The actor recently posted an update on his official website with a blurb about the role:

“I’m not really allowed to talk about any of the movie details, but I can say that James Wong is obviously a gifted and insightful director! When I got the role I had doubts. The more I live with it I realize that I am going to rock this harder than I have anything in my life — I’m hungry for it.”

Marsters with face off with Justin Chatwin, who plays Goku in the movie. Chow Yun-Fat is Master Roshi, Jamie Chung plays Chi Chi, and Emmy Rossum stars as Bulma.

The Accidental Husband stars Uma Thurman, Colin Firth and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. As a promising romantic comedy, the film centers on a talk radio host Emma Lloyd (Thurman) that advises one of her listeners to break up with her boyfriend.

From there, the jilted ex sets about getting his revenge.

Zac Efron is expanding his movie resume.

He’ll be starring in Seventeen, alongside Matthew Perry, and will also play a role in Me and Orson Welles, an adaptation of the period coming-of-age novel by Robert Kaplow.

Set in 1937, the story centers on a high school student (Efron) who, while strolling the streets of New York, comes across the yet-to-open Mercury Theatre and is noticed by its mercurial founder, Orson Welles.

The man lands a bit part in “Julius Caesar,” the production that catapulted Welles to the top, and spends the next week learning about life and love.

Christian McKay will play Welles, while Ben Chaplin has been cast as English film and stage actor George Coulouris.

The latest Star Trek movie comes out on Christmas Day.

But you don’t need to wait that long to get a glimpse of the new version of The U.S.S. Enterprise. Take a look now:

Martin Freeman is known for his comedic chops in movies such as Love Actually and sitcoms such as The Office.

But his next film role, The Good Night, is a bit more serious. Written and directed by Gwyneth Paltrow’s brother, Jake, the movie stars Freeman, Jake’s sister, Danny DeVito and Penelope Cruz.

Below, Martin speaks to IGN about the part:

IGN: Your character Gary tries to live out his dreams. Have you ever had any really striking or recurring dreams yourself?
Martin Freeman: I’ve had several really tangible dreams about UFOs and they’ve been amazing! You know that sort of everyday quality that you get in a couple of scenes in Close Encounters [of the Third Kind] where these lights fly over a road and it somehow seems tangible, somehow seems real.

I’ve had a few of those dreams about UFOs where it’s been absolutely clear that this is the day that the world changes and it’s very exciting. I’ve not had one of those for a while, but I love them when I have them!

IGN: Ever get abducted by the aliens?
Freeman: No, it never gets that far and I suppose that’s the thing, dreams are never that literal are they? It’s never a proper sort of narrative, they’re more a series of random events.

Ready to “Get Carried Away”?

The X-Files sequel is out there.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are back as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in the Untitled X-Files Sequel, which has a tentative release date of July 25, 2008.

“There’s a whole audience I want to introduce X-Files to,” Chris Carter, creator of the series and director of the new movie, told USA Today. “There were kids who couldn’t watch it on TV because it was too scary. Now they’re in college. I wanted a movie that everyone could go to.”

Thanks to the writers’ strike, Heroes star Hayden Panettiere has a lot of free time on her hands.

And she’s using it to star in a couple new films. The latest is called I Love You, Beth Cooper.

The 18-year-old actress will appear at the title character in teen comedy, which will be produced by Chris Columbus (Rent, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets).

As Beth Cooper, Panettiere is a hot cheerleader (typecasting!) that is the object of a nerdy valedictorian’s obsession. The pair embark on a series of misadventures after he proclaims his love for her in his graduation speech.

Later this year, Hayden will appear in the drama Fireflies in the Garden alongside Julia Roberts.

Not surprisingly, Atonement led the nominations for this year’s British Academy Film Awards. The Keira Knightley/James McAvoy vehicle racked up 14 nominations.
