Sylvester Stallone to Remake Death Wish?

Sylvester Stallone is trying to remain classic.

10102736.jpg The intense actor, coming off Rocky Balboa and Rambo, is now focusing on another remake: the writer, director and actor told IGN how he plans to update the main character should he be able to develop a remake of Death Wish.

"I'll give you a little hint," Stallone said. "He was a very violent human being, completely violent, an ex convict who walked the walk, was accepted back into society and did everything he could to be a [good person] like these thieves and junkies who now work on the side of the law.

They've gone that way, but when something happens he reverts back to that guy."

As Stallone relayed to IGN, in November of 2007, MGM chief operating office Rick sands indicated that Stallone was tentatively attached to write, direct and star in a remake of the 1974 movie that starred Charles Bronson.

"I think Death Wish, if it were done today, would be volcanic," Stallone said, never fully committing to the project. "The idea of Jeff Goldblum being a mugger who breaks into an apartment is very simplistic. It gives you an idea how bad the elevation of violence has become. I would focus on defense attorneys, I would focus on [the people] allowing this crap to happen - not so much the guy on the street. It's like, 'Who permits it?'

"What if it happened to you, that your daughter was grabbed and her eyes were put out? Would you want to sit there and defend that guy?"

Stallone went on to explain how his interpretation of the story would be deeper and more complex.

"There's moral questions here that are being presented that have not been answered in 30 years. So by no means is it the pacifist [origin of the original]."

Reel Movie Reviews: First Sunday

reel-reviews-logo3.jpg While First Sunday looks like a fairly generic comedy, it may attract a large audience simply due to Tracy Morgan's presence in the film.

His role will certainly make all 30 Rock fans curious about the film. So, let's take a look at what critics around the country think of it...

- As if Tyler Perry's own films weren't bad enough, now we have to contend with ill-begotten rip-offs of them? Heaven help us. -- Eric D. Snyder

- This anemic vehicle for Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan to mug and jive through is just weak, weak stuff. -- The Philadelphia Inquirer

- Has more bathroom humor than an elementary school cafeteria and so many stereotypes up the wazoo that the wazoo is officially full. -- Metro Mix

- A near-claustrophobic comedy that manages to be both predictable and preachy. -- Variety

Production begins next month. The movie is based on the best-selling, 12-book children's series by Darren Shan.

Reilly will play a vampire who drafts a 14-year-old to serve as his assistant. The youth is turned into a half-vampire and becomes the catalyst in a battle between vampires and the rival Vampanese. Hayek will play Madame Truska, the bearded lady.

Movie Rumors: Christian Bale to Join Public Enemies

Christian Bale is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp in Michael Mann's upcoming feature Public Enemies.

Sources say Bale will portray Melvin Purvis, the legendary FBI agent who led the manhunt for John Dillinger. Depp is starring as Dillinger in the film, which is slated to begin production in March.

Before then, of course, Bale will star in The Dark Knight and Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.

Picture of Jim Carrey in Yes Man

Yes Man looks to be a return to the comedic roots of Jim Carrey.

The movie even sound eerily similar to Liar, Liar, during which Carrey's character could not tell a lie. In Yes Man, he must respond with the word "yes" at all times.

Based on the following photo from the movie, apparently he must also play the guitar sometimes...

Movie Preview: Paranoid Park

Gus Van Sant is certainly known to direct interesting fare.

Good Will Hunting and Elephant come to mind.

Now, the latest movie helmed by this director is called Paranoid Park. It's been nominated for Best Feature and Van Sant for Best Director at this year's Independent Spirit Awards.

Paranoid Park, like the aforementioned flicks, focuses on troubled teenagers. There's a mystery involving  two kids: one dies on train tracks, while the other - a skater boy - struggles with his role in the death.

The movie has already screened at a variety of film festivals, and will open in limited release March 7.
