Olga Kurylenko Speaks on Quantum of Solace Character

Having just heard from Gemma Arterton, here’s an interview with Olga Kurylenko about her character in the next James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace.

Tell us a little bit about Camille.
Olga Kurylenko: She is a strong, feisty, independent woman. She is out there on her mission, driven by revenge.

Camille

How deep is her relationship with Bond?
Kurylenko: Well in the beginning they come as opponents, but at a certain point they have to collaborate. They go through a lot of things together.

How did you get the role?
Kurylenko: First I went for general casting in Paris, then I got invited for an audition in London, then I did the final audition with Daniel [Craig]. I just worked very hard. I worked non-stop with an accent coach because I have to speak with a South American accent, as she’s from Bolivia.

Gemma Arterton Reveals a Quantum of Solace Spoiler

Gemma Arterton PicDon’t worry: this isn’t exactly a monumental Quantum of Solace spoiler.

But Gemma Arterton was asked by IGN about whether her character and James Bond at least get to first base. Here’s the exchange:

To what extent is your character a real Bond girl? Do you get to kiss Bond?
Gemma Arterton: Yes, I do. Though I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that. I’m actually an agent and I work with him, though I think I’ll automatically be called a Bond girl. But in that way I suppose you could call M a Bond girl. She’s very typically Fleming because in the last Bond, and this Bond with Olga [Kurylenko's] character Camille, they’re very independent and strong women out there for themselves.

But my character’s very, very cute. It’s nice because these Bond’s are so different - there’s something much more edgy about them, and my character’s like an homage to the ’60s Bond girls, which I love.

Check out what else Arterton has to say now.

Sean Penn is Harvey Milk

Here is the first photo of Sean Penn from the upcoming Gus Van Sant flick, Milk.

Penn portrays Harvey Milk in the biopic; back in 1977, he became California’s first openly gay official when he was voted to the city supervisor’s board of San Francisco.

Also starring in the film are Josh Brolin, Emile Hirsch, Victor Garber, Denis O’Hare.

Reel Movie Reviews: Over Her Dead Body

reel-reviews-logo47.jpg As mediocre as it looks, Over Her Dead Body does have one thing going for it: Eva Longoria.

But does her beautiful presence make it worth the price of admission? Let’s see what a few critics have to say about this cheesy romantic comedy…

Producers Dish on Zac Efron in Seventeen

Zac EfronProducers Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot know Zac Efron well. Jealous, ladies?

Having become famliar with the High School Musical star from their time on Hairspray, Shankman and Gibgot recently entertained the good people at Comingsoon.net on a set visit to Efron’s latest film, Seventeen.

“While we were doing Hairspray, everyone was aware of what a phenomenon Zac was sort of becoming. [Jennifer] sort of thought I would love to come up with another something for him, and she talked to me about these ideas; she went out to a couple writers, and it was literally pitched to her.

They went out and they sold it with Zac attached, and New Line bought it, and now we’re finishing,” Shankman said.

Of course, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what star-power Zac brings to the big screen, Shankman added. Millions of teenage girls scream upon simply hearing his name.

“He’s really maturing and he’s growing, and he’s so solid in the movie. I’ve seen a bunch of it cut together, and I’m relieved, and I’m so excited to be able to kind of be a part of representing him. I feel like I’ve been in the Zac business for a while, and representing him in a different light outside of the High School triumphant.

And he’s just really good, and he really came alive with all these other actors like Leslie Mann and Thomas Lennon. It’s really funny because Matthew Perry plays him old, and so he had to go to the Matthew Perry School of World Weariness in order to convincingly be this guy. And he does these things that are like Matthew, and it just killed me; he’s a very detailed actor.”

Matt Reeves Considered to Direct Cloverfield 2

reeves_matt.jpg Director Matt Reeves (pictured) might helm the rumored Cloverfield sequel, according to Variety, which is also reporting that Reeves will direct The Invisible Woman.

Timing of the projects will depend on how quickly Paramount can complete discussions with Reeves, producer J.J. Abrams and scribe Drew Goddard to scare up another monster tale for the Cloverfield sequel.

The Invisible Woman is a Hitchcock-style thriller that probes the mind of a former beauty queen who turns to a life of crime to protect her family. Reeves wrote the script and will produce with Abrams.

“Matt has created a truly original and compelling character and story,” said GreeneStreet’s John Penotti.

With a $25 million budget, a strong concept and cast of unknowns, Cloverfield scored a $46 million opening weekend, which was a record for a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: Locked!

Producer Frank Marshall has told Empire Magazine that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is ready to roll into theaters.

Sorry, but we do still need to wait until May to see itt.

“This picture is locked,” Marshall said the current progress. “Steven’s pretty much done editing. And we’re going into the phase with John Williams where he starts scoring the movie. He’s really writing now and then we’ll start scoring in February.”

When asked where this movie sits tonally with the rest of the series, Marshall replied:

“I would say it’s closest to the third one (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade). It’s all adults. I mean, you have the sidekick in Shia (LaBeouf), but you don’t have a Short Round and I think the banter between the characters is as fun as it was in the third movie.”

John Ortiz to Star in Public Enemies, The Fast and the Furious 4

“Public Enemies, is about the life of John Dillinger, and the gangsters of the 1930’s,” Ortiz said of the flick, which will also star La Vie en Rose Oscar-nominee Marion Cotillard. “It’s totally old school. All of the gangster films that we see, and the stories, including American Gangster it started with those guys back in the 30’s.”

Ortiz will portray legendary gangster Frank “The Enforcer” Nitti in Public Enemies, a character previously played by the likes of Sylvester Stallone (Capone) and Stanley Tucci (Road To Perdition).

Filming on Public Enemies is slated to start shooting in March, while The Fast and the Furious 4 will go before the cameras later this year.
