Robert Pattinson to Star in Twilight

Robert Pattinson has been cast as the male lead in the upcoming vampire thriller Twilight.

Harry Potter fans will recognize the young actor as Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Robert Pattinson

Pattinson "will play the role of Edward, a teenager who leads a double life as a vampire and becomes romantically involved with his nonvampire high school classmate Bella (Kristen Stewart)."

Sounds like an awkward paring to us. How will they date after midnight?

Diablo Cody Dishes on Juno

Diablo Cody.

Remember that name.

The screenwriter behind Juno has been receiving critical acclaim for her effort. You'll be hearing a lot from her in the future... and a bit right now. Here are excerpts from a recent interview:

Diablo Cody ComingSoon.net: I just talked to [director Jason Reitman] and he says that he misses you when you don't do interviews together.
Diablo Cody: I miss him a lot, and in fact, I was complaining in the elevator because I thought we were going to be paired for all of this. We really enjoy that and I was really looking forward to spending a day with Jason and he's not here!

CS: I thought it would be a good idea but then I realized you talk as fast as I do, and he doesn't, so it might be strange.
Cody: (laughs) He's more deliberate actually, which is good. He's a good director for that reason. I'm a lot more manic.

CS: Did you already know about his first movie "Thank You for Smoking" when you found out he was going to direct your first script?
Cody: I didn't actually. I'd never seen "Thank You for Smoking" and I fibbed and told him that I had when we met, so he wouldn't think I was completely unprepared, which I always am. Eventually, after our third meeting, I finally thought, "You know what? The jig is up. I should probably see 'Thank You for Smoking.'" So I went back to my home in Minneapolis and my friends and I got together and we had a little party, and we rented "Thank You for Smoking" and I wanted to see what this guy could do, and he knocked my socks off.

I mean, what a fantastic movie, visually, in terms of the writing, the direction, the tone. I think Reitman is a master at establishing tone, and after I saw the movie, I felt so confident and so blessed. I called Jason and said, "Let's do this!"

CS: A lot of people talk about the dialogue in the script and how original it is. How was the collaboration when you started working with Jason, who as you said, is a writer himself?
Cody: He was very very respectful of the material, and yet at the same time, because he's a writer and a respected writer at that, I could take his suggestions very seriously, and I respected his opinion very much.

Anatole Taubman

According to CommanderBond.net, Taubmann made the casting announcement during an appearance on the Swiss TV show glanz & gloria, telling viewers:

Tim Burton to Direct Frankenweenie

Director Tim Burton told Sci-Fi Wire that he's eager to begin shooting a full-length version of Frankenweenie.

What, you may be rightfully wondering?!?

Frankenweenie is the short film Burton made in 1984, while working for Disney. He'll produce and direct the film, which is a Frankenstein-inspired story of a boy who brings his beloved dog back from the dead. It will likely be a 3-D stop-motion-animation film.

Tim Burton

"We're going to do that real low-budget," Burton said in an interview while promoting his latest film, Sweeney Todd. "The thing that excites me about it and that will make it different is that when I look at my original drawings, there are certain things that are in those that I couldn't get in the live action when I made the film.

So I'm quite excited to try to get a certain emotion and other characters in the new version, and I want to make it a slightly bigger story."

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Dishes on Watchmen

Grey's Anatomy fans know Jeffrey Dean Morgan as lovable, late patient Denny.

But comic book followers will soon embrace the actor in the role of The Comedian in Zack Snyder's movie adaptation of the famous Alan Moore graphic novel, Watchmen.

During a press conference for another movie he's starring in, P.S. I Love You, Morgan answered a few questions about Watchmen (due in theaters in March, 2009).

Q: Give us an update as to how the filming has been going and what your experiences have been thus far
Morgan: It's super huge, man. It's just like this kind of mind boggling; every day I go to work on that thing and it's sort of overwhelming and I don't know if I've ever done anything that's quite like that before. We're shooting on the New York set now.

The Comedian

All I can say is it's the most amazing set I've ever seen in my life and we were doing this night exterior - the Keene Riots and seeing the graphic novel come to life like I saw that night… it gives me chills just thinking about it. It's one of those things that I still - I was just telling somebody in another room that it's so much right now to be doing it, just showing up at work everyday and getting into character and going into costume and showing up on the set and then seeing what I'm seeing and how it's all coming together.

I don't know that I have the right words how to describe this experience and tell I'm well done with it because every day it's something else.

Q: Can you talk about your character, The Comedian?
Morgan: Edward Blake is his real name and then the Comedian is the kind of superhero character he is. The character I play is 180 degrees from anything I've ever done before. A far cry from certainly William. A really far cry from Denny Duquette, which is why I wanted to do it. It's a whole other thing. He's an animal.

But I think one of the reasons I got hiredâ€"the things he does, his physical actions are horrendous. Certainly the most horrendous things I've ever seen much less portrayed. But I think my job is toâ€"you don't hate himâ€"so my job is to kind of be able to do these fucking horrible things and yet have the audience not hate his guts.

Because you don't, you read the book and you don't hate the Comedian. There's a reason he does what he does and you know he just takes it maybe to a level that most people wouldn't but for him it's normal.

Awesome Rumor of the Day: John Singleton to Direct The A-Team Movie

According to a highly trusted source, John Singleton has come aboard to direct The A-Team movie!

The film has been in development for years, but only now is it finally gaining momentum. We'll let you know if this rumor becomes fact, but it would be quite exciting, wouldn't it?

ateam.jpg

The A-Team television show ran from 1983-1987 and starred George Peppard and Mr. T. It was centered around an unofficial team of Vietnam veternss wanted by the military for a crime they didn't commit.

Their action-packed adventures were a mixture of helping the innocent while running from the law themselves. You've got the theme song stuck in your head now, don't you?
