Tom Cruise to Make Camero in Tropic Thunder

The simple fact that Tom Cruise is making a cameo in the upcoming Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder might not be major news.

But check out the look this actor will be sporting in the film:

Cruise is believed to be playing a studio mogul in the movie, which also features appearances from Matthew McConaughey, Katie Holmes and Tobey Maguire.

Kevin Smith, Seth Rogen to "Make a Porno"

Seth Rogen has already made on-screen love to Katherine Heigl, getting busy in some of the most awkward, amusing sex scenes in recent history.

Turns out that with those absurd antics and Knocked Up quotes, the rotund and hilarious 25-year-old actor (below) was just getting started.

In Zack and Miri Make a Porno, a new comedy directed by Kevin Smith slated for a 2008 release, Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks play Zack and Miri, two childhood friends who agree to make a porno to get out of debt.

The two pals are then forced to re-evaluate their previously platonic relationship, naturally. The Hollywood Reporter first reported Seth Rogen's involvement in the raunchy sex comedy from a director certainly experienced in the genre.

Seth Rogen: Never a dull moment on screen.

"Getting Seth in [Zack and Miri Make a Porno] is like suddenly growing an extra six inches in the crotch, so to speak," the always well-spoken Kevin Smith said. "Castwise, I'm now extremely well-hung."

So well put.

Ray Winstone Talks about Beowulf, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Ray Winstone PicFor someone who's been in the acting business for so many years, Ray Winstone experienced something new in Beowulf: special CGI.

He said the technology "kind of changes the game a little bit, because sometimes it's about the way you look, rather than the way you perform, so it's quite flattering, because it's about performance."

The actor added that "it does open doors for other things, as there are parts that you might have bypassed because you're too old."

At least partially, of course, Winstone was referring to his role in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. He didn't reveal much about the flick, but did say:

"[Making that film] was everything it should be and more, and to be part of a franchise that you'd watched was extraordinary. It's a roller coaster and that is real fun all the way."

Winstone described director Spielberg as brilliant.

"You know, the people that are really good at what they do are the easiest people in the world, and they allow you to bring something to the table. You end up doing what they want you to do, but they make you feel that you're bringing something to the table and it's just a real pleasure to go to work every day."

Writer of He-Man Movie Dishes on Script, Casting

Justin Marks is the latest writer to try his hand at a He-Man movie. He recently talked about the story line for it:

"We're talking about the He-Man mythology. So what we're talking about doing, in the same way as Batman Begins, we're going back to the original thing, let's build it from the ground up again. How can we find our way in? How can we jump into Adam's life at an interesting point where new audiences will respect him?

he-man.jpg

It's an Adam origin story, and it's a Skeletor origin story. We want to see where both of them come from and how they got that way. If we don't see the humanity and the truth in what Skeletor's trying to do, then the story's not compelling."

As for who will play He-Man? Well, you can count out The Rock or Triple H.

‘'Let me just say we don't want wreslters. [Laughs] I'm not saying he should be He-Man, but Michael Biehn is my all-time favorite actor. You go to Hicks or Kyle Reese, and James Cameron created that action hero type, and I feel like I always write with the mindset of that type of hero who doesn't exist these days.

He's that guy who, if he took a weapon and said, "Follow me," I'd be right behind him.'"

The Golden Compass Director Answers Fan Questions

Chris Weitz. director of The Golden Compass, was kind enough to answer a handful of fan questions sent in to MTV's Movie Blog.

Here's a sample:

Q: Some changes were made in the adapting process â€" taking out talk of religion, original sin, beating death, etc. â€" to avoid controversy. And yet, some religious groups are still upset. If you can't please everybody either way, if it's not possible to avoid controversy by taking religion out, do you feel more or less emboldened to put it back in the rest of the films?

A: It's very important that people understand that nobody just hands you a couple hundred million dollars and says "Go ahead, knock yourself out!" What you have is a dynamic â€" you could call it a debate â€" between me, the filmmaker, and them, the studio â€" that, one hopes, results in a good film. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.

It is my job to fight, by hook or by crook, for the best adaptation of the book possible. It is their job to get the movie to pay back its investors. Even Peter Jackson had to deal with this dynamic, which is why there were shorter theater releases and longer DVD releases of the LOTR movies. But also consider that there was practically nothing that might be deemed controversial in LOTR (other than what you might consider some reflexive racism on Tolkien's part).

So, how does one go about adapting a book that has controversial elements into a film that a very wide variety of people can enjoy, without betraying the original? One tries to be clever about it. I realized that the overt stating of some of the themes in "The Northern Lights"/"The Golden Compass" would never â€" this is important to make clear â€" never EVER get across the goal line. There isn't a wide enough audience for that â€" yet.

Javier Bardem Speaks on Love in the Time of Cholera

Javier Bardem is a busy man.

As he earns critical acclaim for his role in No Country for Old Men, the actor is also doing publicity for the film, Love in the Time of Cholera.

Here's a snippet of a recent interview he conducted:

ComingSoon.net: You've said that you read Marquez's book when you were 14 and that it made a big impression on you. How did those feelings carry over to yourself as an adult and getting to portray that character?
Javier Bardem: Well, the first time I read it, as you said, it was so big. It's such a big novel. I mean, I followed the storyline, but I remember being thoroughly stuck in the reading of it. I was trying to get lost in the descriptions, for example when she goes to the market and the way that Garcia Marquez explains the flavors and the smells of the fruits and all of that.

Love in the Time of Cholera Photo

I remember reading that like six times in a row, going through the page. It just opened a whole world for you and there were many things that I missed. After that, I read it twice. When I knew the movie was going to happen, I felt like I had to talk to the director and say, "I have a big passion for this character." Also, as an actor, it's a challenge to try to do somebody that goes from 20 to 75, because when you do that you have to avoid acting age.

You have to really try to act the character aging, which is different. That's a challenge, especially when, for example, you're shooting scenes in when you're 20, when you're 40 and when you're 75 all in the same day, and you have to change years that fast. That's a challenge, and I wanted to go to that challenge.

Jessie Cave Cast in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Jessie CavePucker up, Jessie Cave. You get to kiss Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Said actor Rupert Grint about the role: "I was involved with the Lavendar Brown audition and the whole Lavendar thing. Her name's Jessie, and she is really cool, and it's going to be really funny."

Sounds like the 20-year old actress landed a role approximately six million other girls would love to have.

She hasn't had much work, but Cave did appear with Helen Mirren in Inkheart, and will star in a BBC drama called Summerhill next year.

The next Harry Potter installment is set to hit theaters November 21, 2008. Helen McCrory was also recently cast in the flick. She'll play Narcissa Malfoy.
