Chris Noth: Shooting Sex and the City Movie is Unbelievable

Do Big and Carrie get married? Is it all just a dream? Rumors abound about Sex and the City: The Movie.

That’s why it’s a good thing Chris Noth sat down with TV Guide to discuss the film a bit…

TVGuide.com: The pictures of you and Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of Sex and the City are just adorable.
Noth: Oh, my god, the freakin’ paparazzi on every location we’re at is unbelievable. I mean, it’s really sad, because when I come to the Law & Order set, no one really cares — they’re so used to us over the years. It’s really like night and day. For whatever reason, [Mr. Big] sort of ignited some kind of chemical combustion in people’s heads [Laughs], and so it’s like I never did Logan.

TVGuide.com: Is there anything about the movie you can tell us?
Noth: No, I can’t tell you anything — only that it exceeds all expectations in terms of the writing and it’s going to be a great one.

TVGuide.com: Are you having a good time?
Noth: It’s a lot of work. I’m doing both at the same time, so I’m just trying to keep up with it and not look like Mike Logan when I’m doing Sex and the City. [Laughs] We don’t care what Mike Logan looks like because he’s supposed to be a detective, but in Sex and the City, I’ve got to look halfway decent around these gorgeous girls. I’ll have to cut it down to just two glasses of wine instead of a bottle. [Laughs]

Saw IV Tolls for Tobin Bell

With Saw IV opening this week, who better to hear from than the horror film’s star, Tobin Bell? He recently talked about the film on a conference call:

Question: This is your fourth Saw film in as many years. Can you tell us what attracted you to the role yet again?
Tobin Bell: He’s a big character. There could be nothing better for an actor than to play a role where the chraacter is a multi-faceted guy. I mean, he is a scientist. A very well read guy. A man of conviction. He is passionate about what he does. There is something Shakespearian about him in a way.

Saw IV

Also, there is a lot more story to be told. I feel like the Saw story doesn’t play out in a linear way. It doesn’t happen in sequence, necessarily. Whenever you have the opportunity to develop a guy like this, it’s a blessing. It’s what actors become actors for.

Q: I think we can gather from some of the clips we’ve seen, and the trailer, that you are still carrying on with your same M.O. You still have the tape-recorded messages. I’m wondering, if he is dead now, why does he still have to disguise his voice?
Tobin Bell: Why does he still need to disguise his voice? You know, not having seen the film, you might rephrase that question. A lot of this stuff is done with special effects. It’s a movie, guys. In terms of answering your question, the time frame in which these recordings were done is not clear. You have to ask yourself:

“What was that time frame? What was his understanding of his liability when he made those recordings? Are all recordings made in that machine automatically distorted?” So, you know? I understand the logic of your question. But, having not seen the film, that is the best that I can do to answer it. It makes sense to me, that if that’s his modus operandi that he wouldn’t change it.

He wouldn’t make it sound more like something you’d hear every day. “Hi, this is John calling you.” That type of thing. It probably has a basis in logic, and time. And it probably has a story basis also.

Sondre Lerche Talks About Dan in Real Life

Dan in Real Life PictureWe’ve already heard from the star of Dan in Real Life, Steve Carell.

Now, here are a few words from the musician behind the soundtrack of the movie, Sondre Lerche.

Cinematical: How did you get involved with Dan in Real Life?
Sondre Lerche: Well, Peter [Hedges] had heard a couple of my songs and thought that my music had the right kind of sound and feel for the movie, and so he came to my apartment in New York and we talked about what he was trying to do. He wanted one musician to do all the music, and he wanted it to have a unique feel, like Harold and Maude.

Then I played him a song that I had written a couple days before, and he loved it. So I read the script that Peter was in the process of rewriting and started attending auditions and rehearsals for the movie so I could get the mood right.

The I Am Legend Movie Trailer

It’s the movie we’re most looking forward to during the upcoming holiday season.

Now, here’s a look at the Will Smith thrilled, I Am Legend:

Mike Myers Talks About The Love Guru

USA Today has an exclusive first look at the latest Mike Myers’ inspired comedy, The Love Guru.

The film, which also stars Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake and Ben Kingsley, features Myers as Pitka, an American left as a child at the gates of an ashram in India. Pitka becomes a self-help guru who tries to smooth the marital rift of a hockey star and his wife.

The Love Guru

Myers, a native of Ontario, says he wrote the film because of his interests in Eastern philosophy and hockey. But he isn’t the type to zip out a script the moment an idea hits.

“I enjoy having the Lamaze birthing process of it,” says Myers, who also authored the Wayne’s World and Austin Powers franchises. “It usually takes me three, 3½ years in between characters.”

Why so long? The actor very protective of his original live-action characters.

“I’ve written and created everything I’ve done, and it takes me a year to reflect on what I’ve done, a year to let the idea incubate and a year to create” a new character.

This time around, that included playing a philosopher of Eastern religion in New York and Los Angeles, where some unsuspecting passersby sought advice from Myers, who never broke from character.

“They asked some very spiritual and deep questions,” he says. “It’s been fascinating combining comedy with a nice life-affirming message.”

So, will The Love Guru be a hit? Don’t ask Myers. He didn’t expect his two most famous alter-egos to be so loved.

“When I did Wayne’s World, I thought you had to grow up in my neighborhood to get it,” he says. “When I did Austin, I thought you had to grow up in my house to get it, because my parents are from Liverpool. But I’ve been very lucky to create things people have liked, so I have to stay true to the things that interest me.”

Lou Ferrigno Praises The Incredible Hulk, Edward Norton

Lou Ferrigno is okay with the fact that the iconic super hero he portrayed in the late 1970s has been remade into a movie. Twice.

Lou FerrignoIn fact, he has nothing but praise for the latest incantation.

“I was in the movie. I just finished filming,” Ferrigno told MTV. “It’s a spectacular ovie. Very impressive.”

Ever since 1977, when he began playing the character in a famous television series, Ferrigno has had a lot of time to ruminate on The Incredible Hulk.

And he says the new movie’s star, Edward Norton, shares a similar obsession.

“We talked about it. I believe he rewrote the script because he’s very involved with the character,” Ferrigno said. “He’s not just doing another movie, he wanted to be involved with the character. I think that’s going to bring it to the next level.”

Ferrigno went on to give Norton and the production his highest seal of approval, saying the work they were doing on the film will “be like the TV series.”

“[Ed actually] reminds me a lot of Bill Bixby,” Ferrigno said, referencing the actor who played Banner in the series. “He has a similar physique, similar personality. Ed is a very fine actor and it adds tremendous credibility for him to be involved with the movie.”

Captain America News: Director to Be Named

Buzz continues to circle around the movie Captain America. As it aims for a 2009 release date, Nick Cassavetes is rumored to soon named as director.

Nick Cassavetes was attached to direct Iron Man before Jon Favreau took it over.

In addition to directing The Notebook and Alpha Dog, Cassavetes is the son of the late actor-filmmaker John Cassavetes and actress Gena Rowlands.

David Self recently penned the screenplay for Captain America, which will reportedly go into production sometime in 2008. The film will be set partially in the present and partially during World War. Needless to say:

We cannot wait.

Why Was Ryan Gosling Let Go from The Lovely Bones?

As we reported yesterday, Mark Wahlberg has taken over for Ryan Gosling in the big screen adaption of The Lovely Bones?

Ryan Gosling and Peter JacksonBut why?

The LA Times reports that Ryan was too fat for the role:

“Peter Jackson was said to be quite surprised that Gosling had showed up to start work on The Lovely Bones looking like he’d donned a fat suit.

According to sources, the 26-year-old Gosling had apparently told the director he was going to gain weight to age himself up to play the part of a grieving father, but Jackson was still expecting some movie star allure — not paunch and a beard.

By Friday, Gosling had left the high-profile production over those pesky “creative differences,” and, by Sunday, he’d been replaced by 36-year-old Mark Wahlberg, who actually could be old enough to father a teenager.”

Beyond that, Page Six reports that Ryan was a diva.

“‘Peter couldn’t stand Ryan,” said a source. Though Variety reported that Gosling had “stepped down” and was replaced by Mark Wahlberg, our source said, ‘Ryan cut his own hair, and was fighting with wardrobe. He was so demanding… Peter booted him two days before filming started.’”
